Alone, jobless and mentally ill: a father 's road to murder.
The Plan:
In Melbourne 's suburb Tyabbs, Greg Anderson wanted to commit “suicide by cop” after killing his son with a cricket bat . The death of the 11 year old was not in the act of revenge or the murderous rage, but through the unseen message of his mental illness.
The Visuals
The savageness of the attack showed that he was determined to kill his son. With no attempt to escape he waited for the police to arrive at the scene and threaten a police officer to kill him whilst holding onto a large knife. Out of self-defence, the police officer fired one shot that hit Anderson in the chest which resulted to him dying in hospital.

The Issue
Though it may seem like mental people are our issue in this situation, however, from the 'bigger picture ' the issue is our inability to deal with the mentally ill. It is unsure of how to control or face a mentally ill criminal. This issue challenges the judge to decide whether mentally ill people are actually making voluntary acts or if someone else has taken over their minds. Some mentally ill people are incapable of having moral standards which can cause uncertainty if we should punish the offender or not.
The People
The issue effects people nation-wide. Although it is very unlikely to come across a mentally ill person who wants do something illegal or intolerable, there is still a chance that anyone in this nation could get harmed (killed) by a disturbed person.
The Opinion.
When a crime is committed by someone who is mentally ill it is difficult to handle the situation as there is no idea what the 'criminal ' might do next. In this situation with Mr Anderson having a history of mental health issues and no one having accessed to his health records (due to crash of computer system), it was challenging to the police forces to control and steady Mr Anderson in this scene. The situation could
