Lazy Day
A lazy day of summer just there with the sun shining and a breeze ever flowing in peace. Usually the noise would be present and clear, but the sound of nature coming together and slowly disappear. Trying to close your curtain where it shows a bit of sunlight. Your alarm going off and you keep waking up to switch it off and, you still go back to sleep.

As you lay in your blankets you feel so warm and cuddly. You have this feeling where you know it’s one of those days where you don’t want to get out of bed, and your head is refusing to get out of your pillow. At some point you know very well you have to get out of bed. Getting up at five thirty, of course, was a rude awakening by washing, brushing your teeth and getting ready. You would not care less about your hair; you just do a simple pony tail. Then you head to the table where breakfast is ready. Then sat down to eat and see. After breakfast you feel lazier because you feel warm and just want to sleep more. After breakfast you get your bag ready. Finally in the afternoon, at break your spirit immediately came and you immediately having fun with your friends. Towards the end the day you are back to being lazy and you feel all your muscles are too lazy to contract. So you just sleep in class, or keep talking or like most people do… go on their cell phones. Finally it’s the end of school, you feel so relieved that you can go home and sleep. When you get home you eat and just relax, and think to yourself “At least now I don’t have to do anything besides homework!”

The sun starts diming and after a few hours its dark. You sit down and enjoy your dinner as if it’s your last. Dinner’s done and you head up to your bedroom, you get changed and slip into bed and say to yourself ‘finally the thing I wanted this whole day… my bed and sleep.”

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

The study entitled “Pathways of sleep, affect, and stress constellations during the first year of college: transition difficulties of emerging adults” deals with questions relating to “how sleep patterns and daily salient experiences change during the first year, how these changes covariate with affective states and sense of experienced stress, and to explore the possible adaptive and less adaptive ways of coping with the transition to college” (Ari and Shulman, 2012:273). This study also dealt with questions regarding how Israeli college students’ daily stresses, including those from their workload, affect their sleeping habits and how they changed over time during their first year of college. The format for this study was a web-based daily diary through which students expressed their daily sleeping patterns and what elements affected their ability to obtain a normal amount…

Trying to go to school the next day. Standing in the shower thinking maybe if I dont get out I wouldn't have to start my day and move on with it all. But as the water turns to a shivering cold I realize it’s all too real. Pushing through the first five periods of the day, the last three seemed as too much. Feeling as if I will never be able to be happy again. All these gloomy days crafted me into who I am today. This whole experience making me grow up just a little bit faster, and a little more mature and understanding seeming as I already live the life as an adult, but only being a…

Don't go to sleep, stay up all night. Make the most of absolutely every second of my day. To be thinking, living, and breathing in the hours that are the least attended by conscious human beings. I enjoy sitting alone, hearing myself breathe in perfect rhythm in the dark on those calm, lonely nights. Taking advantage of my brains unwillingness to go to sleep to think of late night ‘crazy ideas’ or using the silence to discover my own thoughts makes me feel like i'm not wasting a moment. I enjoy the buzz on energy of exhilarating, wild nights with my best friends at an hour that seems ungodly. Driving to get Wendy’s at 3am with the music blaring because that one person in the group just needed a chocolate Frosty, knowing that curfew is way past over and a ticket is inevitable if you encountered a cop, gives you a thrill that can only be describes as making you feel alive. Looking at the clock and seeing a 3 or 4 as the hour is almost one of an accomplishment. Some of my fondest memories and most memorable moments of serene tranquillity were made during these…

Many negative consequences result from the ongoing sleep deprivation. Students find it hard to wake up in the morning, not necessarily because they are lazy, but because their body clock is mismatched with the demands of life, and because irregular sleep interferes with their sleep cycle; resulting in increased difficulties falling asleep at night and waking up in the…

Snoring, and fast asleep you are abruptly woken up by your annoying and loud alarm. You wipe your crusty yellow eyes, and you are finally awake but you don't want to leave the warm silky sheets. Finally the loud repetitive sound annoys you to no end and you flip the sheets off and open your cold phone. The bright screen makes your eyes squint back into your head. Blindly, you grab random clothes in your drawer and hope they match. The warmth from your bed is leaving your body so you throw your clothes on to try and keep the warm in. Since you don't wake up until the last minute all you have time for is to brush your teeth. The thick minty toothpaste caresses your teeth while you quickly move the bristles back and forth on your teeth. Then you throw your heavy backpack on filled with the homework that isn't finished and jump into your car.…

Back when I was in high school around late November early December is when I begin to get sick and I felt really tired and all I wanted to do was sleep. In early January I found out that I was pregnant. After Christmas break when I went back to school I would put my head down and hope for all the morning sickness to go away. I eventually ended up falling asleep and forgetting what was going on in class. My teacher would hand me my assignment and I would take them home that night along with my homework and never completed because I was so tried. After school I would go straight to work and I did not get off work until 11:00pm or sometimes 12:00pm by the time I got in the house I was ready to shower and get in bed I did not feel like doing homework…

Student Life Redefined Indisputable in today’s civilization, it has become unmistakable that the equilibrium of time spent on students’ social, emotional, physical, and academic life is categorically corrupted—an overload of assignments and activities for students often causes a lack of energy and inadequate spare time, many times leading to superabundant stress. Steven Guzman, a twelve year old, runs the same routine every day: He wakes up, goes to school, does homework, and sleeps, with no time for anything else but to eat. The author goes on giving solid information from examinations about extended school hours and time tired out from sports. Students pretty much experience the same time crunch as their parents. Additionally, nearly all children are now also losing free or play time, which could cause harmful effects in the future.…

Waking up to an average morning walking outside in the crisp morning air to get breakfast for myself. After I ate I headed for school to finish those standardized tests at the end of 6th grade. So far my class did well and was eager to get them over with. While I was in my zone working on the test, I could hear the clock ticking away every precious second passing. I had to get done with my English test before recess. Finally I looked at the clock and the time read 1:53 pm, just with a few minutes to spare, I finally had finished my test. I was glad that one was over with, as I raced home to grab a quick snack before I had to return to school.…
