“On the table, side by side The Book of Mormon and the TV Guide One is well worn and cherished with pride; Not the Book of Mormon, but the TV guide, One is used daily to help folks decide, No, not the Book of Mormon, but the TV Guide. As the pages are turned, what shall they see? Oh, what does it matter, turn on the TV! So they opened the book from which they confide, No, not the Book of Mormon, but the TV guide. The word of God is seldom read Maybe a verse or two before they fall into bed, Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be, Not from reading the scriptures, but from watching TV. So back to the table, side by side The Book of Mormon, and the TV Guide The Plan of Salvation is full and free But is found in the Book of Mormon, not on the TV.”
This poem got me to thinking that we make many choices everyday and one of our choices is whether they are going to be good choices or bad choices. For example in the poem that I read it was the TV that was always used and never the book of mormon. The Book of Mormon was finally chosen once you got to the end and realize that is most important. Can we not stop our life for 10 minutes a day to read a chapter or two? Do we not have time in our day for heavenly father unless you are in trouble. We should all think of the time we have in our lives and use it wisely instead of wasting our day away, sitting in front of the TV. Sitting in front of the TV all day doesn’t always bring good thoughts or emotions to mind. These thoughts may drive away the Holy Ghost, which may cause us to end up in bad situations, from wrong choices. You need to always be able to keep your mind clean and be able to make the right decision between turning the TV on and reading the Book of Mormon. Being able to read the Book of Mormon and knowing that it is true is something that you have, that others do
