Almost immediately after starting this course, I discovered that one of my main leadership challenges was going to be confronting constructive conflict, which occurs every day in business and in one’s personal life as well. Tied to this fact was my defensiveness, which was associated with having to do everything perfectly and at sonic speed. These are my SMART goals and I will show that they, of course, are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. Additionally, the objectives of this particular unit (Leadership and Ethics) will be included.
The course room states that one should be able to define and evaluate a high ethical environment in your organization, which is easy as I am not currently in a company. Yet my ideal looks like a vital, collaborative group that draws on each other, without keeping score, feeling guilty, sharing ideas (positive and less than positive), steadfast values that are core to the organization and an actively learning empire. It has always seemed odd to me that anyone would expect to become an innovative leader, if they had not over the adult years, developed into an innovative person, worker, colleague, etc. So from my early twenties, I tried, learned, failed, and kept trying bigger things (self-examination, setting aggressive goals, taking courses, getting certifications, learning to speak well in front of large groups, etc.).
