I recently took an online leadership assessment survey. The particular assessment I used was a survey from yourleadershiplegacy.com. They broke down the results in areas of ambassadorship, advocacy, people moving, truth-seeking, creative building and experienced guiding. I scored marginally in all of them with some being slightly lower or higher than expected. Firstly, ambassadorship is defined by the assessment as being able to instinctively know how to handle a variety of situations with grace. They are people who tend to defuse nasty situations. These are the people who get involved in conflicts on behalf of broad constituencies, as opposed for their own benefit. They tend to be persistent in a gentle way and tend to be persuasive while being respectful at the same time. I scored an 18 out of 25 on this section; around average for my other scores. This, to me, would mean I am right in the middle of these definitions, not too involved but involved enough to make a difference without stepping on toes; Just where I want to be. Secondly, an advocate is defined by the assessment to instinctively act as the spokesperson of a group. They are the ones who are positively relentless to argue a point. They champion ideas or strategic positions and tent to have both linear and non-linear approaches to achieve their goals. This is an area that I scored a 17 out of a possible 25 points. This was my lowest score for this assessment. To me, this would mean that I don’t like to be the outspoken one. I like to get my job done in the back rooms without causing a big ruckus. This is where I think a good healthcare manager would determine what kind of facility they would like to manage. I personally tend to handle things quietly, behind closed doors. I’m not one who likes to be the center of attention. Thirdly, people moving is defined as by the assessment to be a motivator and a nurturer. These people instinctively take the lead
