Leadership Interview: The Interview Of Dr. Allen Pensick

“Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flow charts. It is about one life influencing another” (quoted by John C. Maxwell). For my interview, I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Allen Pensick. I chose Dr. Pensick because I wanted to let persons know that a leader is not just someone at the top of the organization chart and that there are academic leaders as well as traditional leaders. So I took this opportunity to shed some light on someone who worked his way up the organization chart through challenges and obstacles to become what he is today. Dr. Allen Pensick is currently the Provost at St. George’s University, St. George’s Grenada. He was born in Nebraska, a rural Midwestern U.S. state. While living in Nebraska Dr. Pensick was a farmer, horse trainer and also a faculty member at the University of Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska as a student for all his tertiary education including Bachelors, Masters and PhD. Back in Nebraska he was fairly involved in the community; he was a member of various clubs such as the Eagles
Dr. Allen Pensick did not have any formal leadership training but during his school life he was the leader of various groups such as class officer and the President of student council. He continued to develop his leadership skills by getting involved in association and management teams which helped him develop. Dr. Pensick also had good leaders and mentors that he looked up to and they gave him advice and assistance.
