Leadership Manifesto
Leadership Manifesto I’m not entirely sure how my subordinates would describe myself as a leader since I was only recently put in charge of the wheel & tire section at . In that short time though, I would hope that they see me as fair, hard working, reliable, and determined. I strive to fit myself into an organization when I first arrive and to get a feel for how the processes and procedures flow. I like to sit back and observe before I decide what, or even if, any changes need to be made. This would also depict how I think my supervisor would describe my followership. That I am willing to accept adopted procedures and methods before inputting my ideas on any changes that I feel should be made. As a leader, and a follower, I believe in getting and giving ideas when solicited or offering those ideas if I feel they could make a positive contribution. I also feel that excellence is the only standard worth measuring by, and that in order to train my subordinates I cannot always take charge. I may let my subordinates take charge and simply supervise/observe thus allowing them to grow as leaders. I feel that my style of leadership is effective since it allows myself and others to contribute to, and fully accept, ideas as our own. Pride in ownership is key. As for how I would describe myself as an , I think constantly learning or training would be most apt. As I said, excellence is the only standard and being good at, and knowing, all aspects of your duties falls under that concept. I recently switched airframes from the to the . I had six years experience on the and knew most systems and how they functioned quite well. But switching to the reduced my knowledge to bare bones general airframe and hydraulic knowledge. I pushed myself to learn all I could, as fast as I could, so that I could once again become a source of reliable and accurate information. I face that switch again now with the move from the flightline to the Aerospace Recovery

Our trip to Texas Southern was overall very interesting. We briefly visited with Dr. Thomas Freeman and learned about his long, incredible life, but before that, we walked some of the halls containing mural after mural. Many are elaborate paintings of various elements of the black lives matter movement. Others, like the police brutality mural, have connotations to today’s world and the injustices African American people face on a day to day basis. The mural that caught my eye, though, was the one depicting one mule on a vast stretch of land which, Mr. Ford said, is a symbol of the ‘one mule and forty acres’ the enslaved families were meant to receive after being emancipated. Even though the painting may seem bare, the history of the origin of “forty acres and a mule” is displayed by what is included and excluded because, the mural’s location on an otherwise bare portion of wall represents the hope from an otherwise hopeless position, the mural itself represents the metaphorical promise of forty acres and a mule, and the bareness of the tree and…

Emptiness is the feeling you get at 2 A.M when you look at your old Facebook photos, smiling at the old photos of yourself, and realize the people who made you smile, laugh, and giggle are no longer around. You look at these photos as a journey down memory lane but in reality deep down somewhere, you wish you could experience these moments just once more. There’s nothing wrong with having a glance at the past but substituting the past for the present and yearning for it is dangerous. The past has a captivating effect that makes us fall in love it because it helps ignite a sense of happiness and comfortability. You can see the idea of never wanting to let go of the past go in “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner. “A Rose…

How would my subordinates describe me as a leader? I have never seemed to think as myself as a leader however, since I have been in the INANG my subordinates would describe me as a good mentor and team builder. I like to work close by those underneath me and be ready to jump in and help when there is an issue. I would also be described as a good listener. When I was a senior airman I was asked by a colonel: If I could change something with our leadership, what would it be? In the back of my mind I thought that was his job, but I answered anyway. I told him that there could be better communication with everything from the hangar to the back shops. From that point on, we would see him working his way around more often to keep in touch and gather feedback. Since then, I like to ask my subordinates ideas of how they would do something better. How would my supervisor describe me as a follower? My supervisor would describe me as a follower that does not have to be told what to do. He would also say that if there was a task that was given to me that he would not have to worry about it getting accomplished. What leadership style do I use? The types of leadership style that I use could be described as a coaching style. I like to do the “watch this method” to see if subordinates get it and then help out. I believe this method works majority of the time because if I respect others then typically they expect me. How would I describe myself as an NCO? I would describe myself as a professional airman that upholds to the CORE VALUES of AIR FORCE. My supervisor would describe me as an excellent NCO and mentor dedicated to the military. What are my strengths? My biggest strength is my social skills and working with others. I enjoy working with others rather than being alone. I do not know many strangers. What is my essence? The qualities that make me who I am are excitement, fun, and action.…

Breaking down my leadership qualities and traits and what kind I am the first thing that always comes to mind, is that I am one who still has a lot to learn and many skills to develop. Yes, I know that all of that will come with time but it remains a lingering thought letting me know that there is always room for constant improvement. That being said I would like to consider myself as a transactional leader. I greatly enjoy getting involved and checking in to ensure things are getting done right when the occasion calls for it. To include the added bonus of handing out rewards to the individuals that worked day in and day out to uphold and meet or exceed the standards I set and agree with them on.…

My leadership style is best described as a funnel. My aim in leading others is not to conduct every single individual, but to guide everyone to work towards the same central goal. I believe it is best to let others bring their own unique abilities to the table and use them to accomplish the task at hand. One of my most memorable experiences as a leader was leading my school’s student section. When I came into high school, school spirit was a joke. At games, everyone sat and no one said a thing. I decided that needed to change. My fellow students didn’t want change. They told my friends and I to sit down and shut up. I kept standing, I yelled louder, and kept going. Eventually, I started a spark. By the end of my freshman year there were a group…

Taking ENES 317 has exposed me to lot of knowledge such as one leadership/Management skills, personality types, approaches to problems and decision making. In the past, I believed that leadership was a quality that could be learned and taught, but I also thought that leadership would best fit people with some personal trait such as charisma or personality of an extrovert people. With the knowledge gained from this leadership course, I came up with an individual Bill Gates who is successful in leading but an introvert, and he has successfully managed to influence others, who virtually revitalize our personal computers/phones and way of shopping. However, some of the things I knew about leadership before taking ENES317 was that a good leader should be open to new ideas, forgiving to his/her followers, and demonstrate humility. I still believe that without these qualities a leader can only become arrogant in their leadership that their behavior may isolate them from their followers. My focuses on this paper will be to analyze the self-assessments test taken in class and the leadership theories presented in class.…

The project I chose to demonstrate my leadership on was to go around the Frostburg community picking up recycling and then dumping it in a local landfill. I first chose this project to work on because I thought, how could I help Frostburg and give back to the community? By recycling products and going green, these products can eventually be reprocessed and re-used without having it go to waste. I mainly decided to collect recycling to maintain and keep Frostburg clean and liter free. It establishes a healthy environment for locals, students and staff around the area. Going green and keeping the community environmentally friendly is highly stressed around the world today. Any kind of helpful service regarding recycling is beneficial to the environment and that’s what I planned to do. It is important for me to serve Frostburg by recycling because it isn’t the first time for me. Throughout my early years I have gone around collecting trash and recyclable goods through certain groups such as church camps and other clubs. I learned a lot about why it is important to recycle and ways to do it.…
