Leading With Love February 12, 2013 What Does it Mean to Lead with Love? Let’s begin by defining leadership. Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. In reference to the aspect of leading with love, it is a matter of character development. Working to develop our character is an action that must be intentional, consistent and genuine. This means consciously reflecting on your character everyday.

Often it may be hard to react in love and make moral decisions if you are working in positions of high stress, criticism or responsibility. The most important thing to remember, is that though you may not be in control of happenings with those of your employ, you are always in control of how you behave and react to situations. People who you work with can discern the spirit you portray. They can also mirror whether or not your loving leadership comes from a genuine heart. For this reason, a loving character practiced in great measure can naturally heed a positive effect through behaviors of others around you.
We are humans created with free will, and will always have moments of contemplation to consider our options before acting upon them. In the words of John Hope Bryant “love leadership offers you an opportunity to build a legacy that you can truly be proud of.” Consider the trail of leadership you leave behind, and lead with love by living in love with those around you.
