In the short story, “Marigolds” by Eugenia Collier, Lizabeth, the main character, a victim of poverty, took her anger out on her neighbor’s cherished marigolds without knowing what she was doing. She later realized the marigolds symbolized hope for her and her poverty struck community. This relates to a similar occasion that I experienced with my parents divorce.…

Document 10, written by Heinrich Mann, describes the spirits of the German People. He says that their spirits are so worn down because of the conditions that they don’t really care about a democracy anymore because they are so tired and worn down. If no one cares about the democracy than no one is supporting it and that creates instability. Document 3 where a major communist leader calls the Weimar Republic "bloody class terror of the bourgeoisie." Though she is a communist and has very extreme views other in Germany may have had these views of the bourgeoisie as well, such as the lower classes because of their miserable conditions. Clara Zetkin, who was a Communist, has these views and is writing this editorial because she has communist views and believes in a communist state. She would not want a new democracy in Germany; she would want a Communist state. In Document 5 an artist shows how working class misery had the people "arising in armed revolution”. A revolution of the lower class is exactly how the communist believed a Communist state would eventually come to power. Both the picture and the editorial are offering those in the lower classes a view of the world if the communists came to power. Because of the misery of the lower class at the time people did not like the democracy and instead favored the equality and better life of a Nazi ruled Germany…

My favorite movie would be “Where The Red Fern Grows.” The reason I choose Where The Red Fern Grows was because this movie is real heartwarming between a boy and his two hunting dogs which he gets later on the movie. The settings takes place at a ranch outside of a small town. This boy who really wants to have a mutt,so he can train it and make it into the best coon hunting dog in the town, but can’t offered to get even a single mutt for lack of money. Later on the boy saves a lot of money to buy not just one but two two Redbone Coonhound hunting dogs, and he also buy his parents and his sister gifts with the leftover money he had in his pockets.…
The Cherokee rose is the state flower of Georgia. It was liked by many women in the 1916 Georgia Federation of Women’s Club. It was then named the state flower. The Cherokee rose is white with a yellow middle and it has many thorns on the steam. The rose was symbol for strength for women in the Cherokee tribe. In a political atmosphere where homosexuality has become trendy, and those opposing it citing religious freedom are criticized, a debate has arisen between parties both for and against this exercise of religious freedom. Issues stem from the applications of personal religious freedom and their applications to business. This position has become increasingly difficult for courts to rule on, especially given the supreme court ruling on the legalization of same sex marriage which pushed this debate on religious freedom into the living room of America and out of court. The debate has captivated the interests of individuals in the US, even those without strong feelings for or against, given the conundrum that has arisen between the clash of religious freedom and personal expression. The question remains, should the views of an individual entitle them to discriminate when when conducting business with another, and in a union founded upon the separation between…

The level of severity is measured by color, such as white, grey and black. Nazi’s practiced black propaganda like no other country before. Black propaganda is identified as being from one source, but is in fact from another. This is most common to disguise the true origins of the message. It was used to vilify, embarrass, or misrepresent the enemy, with deceitful lies and fabrications. Around 1929, Hitler hired a man named Josef Gobbels as his minister of propaganda. Minster Goebbels developed extremely successful campaigns using simple slogans and images repeated over and again in order to win public support for the party. The Nazis spent huge sums on newspapers, flyers and posters. Gobbels was responsible for the re-writing of school books and the production of anti-Semitic books, films and exhibitions. He arranged large political military rallies to build support. These were vast, highly organized events with banners and marching bands. Using his own skills of oratory Hitler attracted to the loyalty of the German people. A main aspect of black propaganda is it is exceedingly guarded, secretive and withdrawn from the public. Public knowledge of black propaganda tactics and sources would weaken or backfire the very campaign the propaganda is supporting. Such secrecy was so guarded, the world is presently finding out things about World War II and Hitler, they had no idea…
In House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski it discusses the experiences everyone endures once entering the house, although the people that enter the house are primarily males as the reader I become part of the book. Resembling to the characters we all symbolize something different, however by the end the characters all become interconnected by causing some harm to themselves or become insane because they cannot determine what is occurring in the house. However, I have learned to not be afraid of the unknown because they are made as a path to learn from. In addition, I changed from being someone that wanted to know everything to having a mystery is fine and not necessary for it to become an obsession.…
I began studying the behavior of children over 30 years ago when I entered college as an Elementary Education major. In that time, there has rarely been a course that I have taken that does not, at some point in time, utilize the strengths and the model of Bloom’s taxonomy to some degree. I am almost certain that I have never been asked to look at the possibility of ‘weaknesses’ in Bloom’s theory before this. And, quite honestly I don’t remember ever questioning the validity of his entire model, until now.…
In “The Nazi Party is Formed” by James Masters, he explains how Hitler formed the National Socialist Party from a minute German Workers’ Party. Adolf Hitler joined the German Workers’ Party and immediately began to try and make it succeed. He essentially “took over” recruiting members for the club. On October 16, 1919, one hundred people showed up at the monthly public meeting. In a matter of months, four to be exact, the Workers’ party grew tremendously. By this time, they had 2,000 members. Hitler used the huge turnout to kick-start the party’s propaganda. In his speech, Adolf outlined the following: the unification of all Germans; the refusal to accept the Treaty of Versailles; a mandate for additional territories for the German citizens; citizenship determined by race (no Jew was to be considered a “true” German); and religious freedom (besides those religions that “infected” the German race). Hitler was obviously formulating an anti-Semitic plan long before he became the dictator of Germany. Adolf finally decided that in order to gain popularity for his new group, he must create a “powerful, instantly recognizable symbol” (Masters). He decided on a red swastika with a white background. This is still considered “the most infamous [symbol] in history” (Masters). Hitler decided to call his group the…

They were all German students majoring in the sciences at the University of Munich. They enjoyed hanging out together and routinely discussing their views with Professor Huber; a professor of Philosophy, Psychology and Musicology. In July of 1941, the Catholic bishop of Munster, named Clemens August Galen, publicly expressed his outrage concerning the T-4 program that resulted in the mass murder of thousands of handicapped individuals. The bishop’s actions inspired Hans and Alexander to begin producing anti-Nazi literature. In June 1942, Alexander Schmorell and Hans Scholl wrote the first four leaflets with the drafting help of Christoph Probst. All the leaflets had the title "Leaves of the White Rose." Every leaflet spoke about how Hitler was prolonging the war, leading a systematic Jewish genocide, and underestimating of the Allied forces. The leaflets were left in telephone booths, mailed to professors, and distributed in other universities all throughout central Germany. It was a difficult and extremely risky endeavor because there was a scarcity for stamps and stationary during the time. Not only was it expensive, but buying materials in mass quantities would make one an immediate suspect. Among creating leaflets, Hans, Alex, and Willi also graffitied "Down with Hitler", "Hitler Mass Murderer", "Freedom", and crossed-out swastikas on the walls of the University. After the producing the sixth leaflet in February of 1943, there was a surplus of leaflets. Hans and Sophie volunteered to disperse them at the University of Munich. This turned for the worse when they were caught by Janitor Jakub Schmied and later sentenced by the People’s…
