Leaky Gut Syndromw
Practitioners believe that leaky gut syndrome is a bona fide pathological condition. It is often diagnosed with small intestine bacterial growth (SIBO), and yeast infection or systemic candidiasis. If you fear that you may have, or could develop, a leaky gut, changing to a diet that protects the gut is the next step for you. You also need to address other lifestyle factors like having a good quality sleep, fighting stress, having a low-strain exercise, and breathing fresh air outside.
The first and most important thing to do to heal a leaky gut is to stay away from foods that harm or inflame the lining of the intestine. It will take approximately six months, or even more, to fully heal the gut depending on the extent of the damage. Until the gut is completely healed, it is vital to stay away from all legumes, dairy products and grains. It is also important to avoid additives in processed foods and refined sugars. Having a diet that avoids gut-irritating foods is critical but it should also be noted to include foods that help reduce the inflammation and help heal the damaged gut.
Vegetables are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that help control inflammation. Having a variety of differently colored vegetables, leafy vegetables, and cruciferous vegetables everyday will provide all the essential vitamins and minerals in a way that is easy for the body to absorb. Fruits, specifically berries, are also rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. But this should be paired with exercise because of the high sugar content.
Eat foods that promote the development of microflora in the gut. If you have problems with your gut, it is a good indication that good microorganisms are having trouble too. To help restore their number, eat as many different sources of probiotics. Do this by having probiotic supplements. Change brands every now and then since different labels will have different strains and this will help increase the diversity of microflora.
