“Students who do well in a second language do better in their first language” which means not only do students learn a new language but they become even better English speakers (source A). Allowing an English speaker to learn another language and exposing them to new cultures can help them to better “understand, to recognize cultural difference, and… to appreciate traditions, including one’s own (source A). When a student is open to new knowledge especially of a new culture it can help a student better understand the reason behind certain cultural aspects and help the student debunk discriminative and racist comments and theories in their future where as a monolingual English speaker may have a more difficult time understating new cultures. America is a developed country with a very big and expanding population that knows too little of the different cultures of the countries around it. Monolingual English speaking Americans are at a disadvantage that if fixed in terms of learning a new language and mastering it can help benefit the country’s economy, discipline, and ability to converses and engage in new cultures and traditional
