Title for Now Playing sports is not just stupid jocks running around trying to make a name for them in the specific sport they are playing. There is more to sports than just trying to beat your opponent horribly and to the best team out there. Athletes learn many things while playing on the field, in the court or anywhere a sport is played. Playing baseball for 15 years, I have learned how to be very patient, communicate with others and to handle adversity greatly. Through sports, life skills are learned such as patience, time management, preparation, learning how to handle adversity and communication with others The baseball team is down by two runs in the bottom of the ninth and what does the coach tell his players? “Be patient and wait till the first strike is thrown then attack the pitcher!” Another situation where patience is important is when the pitcher is throwing a fantastic game and all of the position players are standing at their waiting for something to come to them. These types of situations where patience is vital, carry over to the business world and in life. Everything does not come to you when you demand it. Being patient allows a person to let certain things and let certain doors open such as job offers, pay raises and being promoted. Business people who are patient tend to be more successful in life and rarely press themselves about their lives. Being involved with sports really test your time management skills especially in college. As an athlete there is certain routine that you follow for the season or multiple seasons depending on if the athlete plays multiple sports or not. Wake up at 5:30 a.m., finish practice at 6:45 a.m., school starts at eight. Once school is over at four, practice starts at 4:30 and usually ends at eight. By the time the athlete gets home he/she is exhausted and ready for bed but the teachers pile the homework on the athlete and is not done till midnight or
