LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan
Formal Essay #3:Comparison and Contrast During the 2007-2008 season, LeBron James averaged 30 points, 7 assists, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. Throughout the 1986-1987 season Michael Jordan averaged 37 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 14 field goals per game. Although both James and Jordan are argued to be the most talented players of their generation, there are many differences that set them apart. For example, their experience before the NBA, the awards they won, and which teams they played on. LeBron James has been a basketball star ever since he was the star of his high school team, St. Vincent and St.Mary’s Academy. He won “Mr. Basketball of Ohio” three years consecutively. After high school, LeBron was drafted straight into the NBA, and was the very 1st draft pick. His first year in the NBA, LeBron won the “Rookie of the Year” award. He has already earned 1 national championship, 2 olympic medals, and 3 NBA MVP’s. James played with the Cleveland Cavaliers his first 7 seasons straight out of high school. In 2010, LeBron signed a contract with the Miami Heat and has just started his 3rd season with the Heat. Michael Jordan was always underestimated. In high school, he lead his team , Emsley A. Laney, to the state playoffs his Junior and Senior year. After high school, Michael played 3 years on scholarship at University of Carolina. In 1984, Jordan was the 3rd pick of the NBA draft. Jordan played 8 seasons with the Chicago Bulls, earning “Rookie of the Year” award, 6 consecutive national championships, 3 NBA MVP’s, and 2 olympic gold medals. After 8 seasons, Jordan retired to play professional baseball. 2 years later, Jordan quit baseball and came back to the NBA and played 6 seasons as the star of the Washington Wizards, before he retired for a second and final time. Jordan is now the partial owner and chairman of the Charlotte Bobcats. Both LeBron and M.J. are talented basketball legends. However, its impossible to compare who is better because

LeBron James, is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). James, hands down, is currently the best player in the NBA. He is a three-time NBA champion, three-time NBA finals MVP, four-time NBA most valuable player, 13-time NBA all-star, two-time NBA all-star game most valuable player, 11-time All-NBA first team, two-time All-NBA second team, and a five-time NBA all-defensive first team (land of basketball.com). Also, he recently just passed Michael Jordan to become the NBA’s all-time playoff scoring leader, and the first player to average a triple-double in NBA Finals history. I believe LeBron James is a transformational leader; he brings optimism and greatness to the…

LeBron James and Kobe Bryant may play the same sport, but both have different perspectives on how they play the game. First off, Kobe has more experience in the game, compared to LeBron. Kobe began to play in the NBA (National Basketball Association) in 1996. Which makes him more experienced with the game and his team. Whereas there is LeBron who started his career in 2003. He may be lacking in years but, that doesn't make Kobe to be a better player. Kobe has his way of playing as does LeBron. Kobe prefers the “pick n roll”, as LeBron enjoys the “slam dunk”. Kobe is more defensive, as LeBron is more offense. No 1996, Kobe was everything. To being called the “Black Mamba”, to being known to have his shifty moves in like of the Great…

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant have a lot of things that are similar. Like they both have Three all star MVP but in different years the first one that Michael Jordan got was in February ,7 1988 at the Chicago stadium and the other one in 1996 where he was chosen as a mvp and the last one was in 1998 in Madison square garden where he did the amazing dunk and he faced up vs. Kobe Bryant at age 19 as his rookie career he was manage to scored 18 point on that day but Kobe didn’t stop trying he try hard to get his all star MVP he was manage to get one in February 10,2002 at Philadelphia because he had an average of 31 points and as he kept on moving he also got another one on February 17 ,2007 at Las Vegas Nevada at the university where he had the same amount of point but5 rebounds and 6 assists. As he when on, he got one more in the 2009 at the phoenix Arizona as they chose him so this why I think they have the same style of playing basketball, that’s why they became mvp so as we all know each team wins a championship which Michael Jordan had 6 championship in 1991 in this year he won his first championship title at LA great western forum stadium in June 12 as they moved on to the next year 1992 June 14 as the bulls were 3 and the Portland trailblazer were 2, as they moved on to the bulls stadium they won that game 97-93 as a closed game as they continued to win back to back games but this time on june,20 1993 vs. the phoenix sun they were managed to win at the phoenix sun stadium by 1 point that Horace grant made the 3 point shot to win it 99-98 as all…

On the surface this may seem true, but upon a second glance this is obviously wrong. First of all, Jordan was not just a talented offensive player; he won the defensive player of the year award and was on the All NBA Defensive first team nine times (Basketball). Shooting and defense are Jordan’s two best attributes. People who think LeBron is better than Jordan might say that Jordan may be a better shooter than LeBron, but he could never have been the all around player that LeBron is. They might say Jordan was a ball hog who only shot the ball and couldn’t be a floor general like LeBron. Could Michael Jordan really have piled up triple doubles (three stats with double digit units) like LeBron does? Well let 's take a look at that. In March of 1989 John Paxson was injured, so Doug Collins moved Michael Jordan to the point guard position even though he was a shooting guard (Knicks). In Michael’s first game as a point guard, he dished out 15 assists in a blowout win over the Seattle Supersonics (Knicks). In his next game, Michael recorded a triple double with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists in another blowout of the Indiana Pacers (Knicks). On March 25, Michael began a run of 10 triple doubles in 11 games, including 7 straight before missing one against the Pistons where he had 40 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds (Knicks). He would finish the season with 15 triple doubles (NBA). Michael Jordan…

He is an amazing player and that cannot be denied. Lebron didn’t even play in the NCAA, he jumped straight from high school into the NBA draft in 2003 which is pretty damn impressive. There is no doubt that Lebron is a great basketball player. He severely helped the Cavaliers while playing for them and his stats are up there with some of the biggest NBA names out there. His nickname “The King” is easily lived up to by James while sitting at the top with Robertson, Jordan and Bird in the history books for the NBA. He did make the Cavaliers work and help their franchise out a ton, so I guess the same could be true with the Miami Heat (Measurement). The week Lebron was to decide his signing Jill Seward from NESN said “The world’s most-talked about basketball player will sit down in an ESPN special titled "The Decision" in Greenwich, Conn., at 9 p.m. ET, and millions will be watching.” (Seward). Millions of people sat down…

The next reason that Michael Jordan is a much better player than Steph Curry is, is because he is a better defender Michael Jordan was known for his outstanding tenacious defense. He was able to shut down some of the best scorers in the league such as Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson. Michael Jordan was able to steal the ball from anyone he played against very rarely did he ever miss an assignment or was scored on by the person he was defending. Michael Jordan averaged tons of steals a game. He was even able to collect many blocks even though he was not one of the biggest guys out on the court. Also he had to defend way better players than there are now. Back then they did not call as many offensive fouls either so he had to stop cheap play…

Next, In Jordan’s career he got six thousand five hundred and seventy five rebounds in the NBA. On the other hand, Jordan got six thousand seven hundred and seventy two rebounds in his NBA career. The reason why both of these athletes made so many rebounds is because that they work very hard every game. Furthermore, Bryant got three thousand one hundred and sixty four personal fouls in his career. The reason why is because that Bryant gets very physical in the game.
