Abstract
The use of marijuana all over the world has sparked a heated debate on how the drug should be used and whether it should be legalized or not. Although marijuana is legalized in a few states across the world, there are some states that are still sceptical about its usage given the numerous side effects that the drug is thought to have on the users. The researcher sought to ascertain different scenarios that have elucidated the need to legalize marijuana in New Mexico. In as much as many people are recognizing the drug as illegal, legalizing it will be of great help by bringing in a number of advantages mainly in the form of added revenue to our state through the taxation of marijuana and saving money by reducing the resources required to maintain the prohibition on this relatively safe drug. Much as Marijuana is thought to have numerous side-effects to the user, a core reason as to why its usage is shunned in many states, there are a number of reasons as to why it should be considered for legalization. This paper explores a number of reasons as to why Marijuana should be legalized in New Mexico. The researcher relied on content analysis as per the nature of the research. By relying on the past researches, the researcher was able to arrive at a universal solution as to how marijuana could be recognized or refuted from the economy of New Mexico.
