To conclude, legislative branch is essential for the balance of power in modern states. Over its long history it has continiously evolved, together with its functions and influence. Today, lawmaking is perhaps not its most important function, and representation of the people and constituencies, and supervision of the exucutives and other government officials is more important. We can also conclude that the legislatures are losing power to the executives. This is partly due to the lack of expertise and turnover in parliaments, as well as some structural disadvantages and the fact that reelection has become the main goal of almost all legislators, which limits their ability to be independent and proactive. I think that legislatures have to find a way to bring more excitement to their work and losen the party discipline, while making sure that enough young and competent people enter …show more content…
