Leonardo Bonacci or known as Leonardo Fibonacci was born in the year of 1170. In Pisa, Italy. He died 80 years later, in 1250. His parents are Alessandra Bonacci and Guglielmo Bonacci. He has one brother named Bonaccinghus. As a child Leonardo Bonacci (Fibonacci) traveled. He traveled a ton with his father. Mr. Bonacci was a Pisan merchant of Bugia. Most of his life as a boy was spent in Pisa, Italy. The hardest part was learning Hindu. Which he where he went to school everyone spoke Hindu. Education for everyone is somewhat different. The teen years were filled with excitement! This first part isn't very exciting, but it will be! Leo was still in school just like we are. Which isn't that fun. Leonardo needs his education to be a mathematician. After school, or as we call it high school, Leonardo Bonacci traveled like he did as a boy! He traveled to Egypt, Syria, Greece, Sicily, and Provence. He traveled to those specific places so he learned different number systems and calculation methods. Back in the Middle Ages college was not invented so Leonardo did not go to college. At age 30 Fibonacci stopped traveling and started writing books. To make a living Leonardo Bonacci wrote books in Hindu. They are called
Liber Abbaci which means free Abbaci. The other book is called Libro di Minor Guisa means Book of Least Guise. Both are written in Italian. Leonardo was never married. Since he had no wife he never had a family of his own. I think Leonardo never got married because he was too intrigued with math. He was alive so long ago nobody knows the exact truth. But everyone who research him question the topic. Fibonacci was alive for 80 years.
So there must have been a lot of historical events happening! Leo was alive during the Middle Ages. During that time Thomas Becket was murdered. He died the year Leonardo was born. In 1174 Saladin conquers Syria. Also, in 1185 the Kamakura period began. That was located in Japan. Leonardo Fibonacci created the "Fibonacci Sequence." The sequence is where you add the first two numbers to get the next number. So the sum of the first two is the next pattern you add. An example would be 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144, and so on. That is how the Fibonacci Sequence works. Leonardo changed the way our life is because without him math would be harder. Without Fibonacci we would never be able to learn numbers easier. Most people learn addition through his sequence. Others think the sequence is difficult and hard to understand. When you get the hang of it it's pretty easy! The most interesting thing I learned while researching Leonardo Bonacci was discovering that Fibonacci numbers are in nature. It says the numbers represent flower petals on types of flowers. A source also says the sequence can be found on plants, petals, fruits, the human face, the human hand, and animals. The sequence outline is found on living things that are growing. Another fact about Fibonacci is that he created the sequence in a discussion about breeding
rabbits!
