Leonidas: A Short Story Of A Greek God
Who can forget Gerard Bulter as Leonidas in 300? The Spartan leader has a very strong jaw and sculptured body that it's no wonder he looks like a god in the upcoming Gods of Egypt movie. It's as if he just jumped in to the next studio.

Gerard Butler is due to star in Lionsgate's epic fantasy film inspired by Egyptian mythology. He will play Set, the god of darkness. He rules egypt with a mighty fist in darkness and chaos. Of couse, only a hero from the masses will vow to seek vengeance for taking the love of his life and defeat Set. This can only happen though with the help of Horus which will be played by Nikolaj Coster. Both gods will fight for the control of the Nile River Valley which means it's going to be magical and epic.

Check out Butler's smoking hot pose in sandals here. It's a near cry from his Leonidas costume and face profile. I mean, it's very strong and his eyes can declare war on its own.

The gods Hathor and Thoth are in on the fun, too. So we expect some sort of hot desert romance and fiery wars, then? It sort of pays if you know your Egyptian mythology but then there are things that might differ - you know, just to make the movie sexier. I mean, do we really expect Hathor, played by Elodie young, to walk as a cow in the desert? I don't think so.

Gods of Egypt is directed by Alex Proyas. Cast also includes Chadwick Boseman, Elodie Yung, and Courtney Eaton.

The film is due to be released in theaters next year on February 26 and will be available in 2D and 3D, as reported by

The Persians Wars were fought between the Persian God Kings (Darius I and Xerxes I) and the Greeks city-states (Athens, Arcadia and Sparta). There were many battles during this warring period, such as the Battle of Marathon or the Battle of Plataea, but the battle that Leonidas is known for is the Battle of Thermopylae for his courageous acts of leadership and his historical death. Leonidas learned that Persian’s God King, Xerxes, has rallied a massive army and has begun to invade Greece, in result Leonidas consults with the Athenian consul. The consul acknowledges Leonidas not to attack the Persians but to abandon Sparta however; he ignores their command and gathers 300 Spartans, all who have sons to pass on their name, and marches to Thermopylae. After days of fighting, the Spartans are defeated my Persian forces due to a traitor revealing a hidden passage behind the Spartan Phalanx. Instead of running, Leonidas fights his famous last stand, alongside his men, and dies a glorious death. This act of valor has made the military mindset of “Glory before Death” present in many modern day military forces.…

His crown is the white crown of Upper Egypt surrounded by red feathers. His skin is green to represent vegetation. He holds the symbols of supreme power, the flail and crook. The crook is used by shepherds to catch their sheep. The flail is used in threshing, to separate the grains from the outer husks. Osiris was the God of the Dead. You would expect that such a god would be gloomy or even evil, but the Egyptians thought about death a lot. They mummified their dead and buried them with their belongings so they could enjoy themselves in the…

" There are no secret economies that nourish the poor; on the contrary, there are a host of special cost", meaning that there isn't any help for the poor but yet they have to pay for everything they need and have. Although it may be true in some cases but I disagree with the statement. The reason why I disagree is because it all depends on the person's situation. As for Barbara Ehrenreich she bases it on her co-workers life on how some struggle just get by without support. Unfortunately they are in a bad position where they are not able to receive support from others around them or simply because they're not motivated enough to do something about it and move on.…

As we were told when we were young children, too much of a good thing is not a good thing. The same phrase can apply to aspects in lives now. Literature shows how pride can be a good thing, but too much of it is not. In fact, the opposite of pride, humility, is an extremely important value. The Bible and Edith Hamilton’s Mythology both show how a lack of the value humility will result in consequence through characterization and plot.…

Aya Temimi, does this name ring a bell ? Of course ! The most amazing director of all time, billions of fans and directed one of the most famous love stories: The Titanic. Aya Temimi has already sold out, not a million but a BILLION copies of The Titanic. Not only that was a highlight in her amazing career but also being the best director at such a young age (20 years) is very rare, especially, in this new generation. Who would have thought ? That this small girl from the smallest country on Earth would become THIS big? (not me) but a lesson is learned: don't judge a book by it's cover or in this case (by it's surrounding). The amazing Aya took a break for a couple of years, but now she's back and better than ever. She is willing to win our hearts back by redirecting the famous romantic movie: Romeo&Juliet, we will experience it on whole different level, with new actors and a new director (Aya Temimi). The movie is expected in June 2013, a bit too much waiting for us but you know what they say: haste makes waste, so we have to hold our horses (even though we can't).…

“The characters, stories, themes and lessons of Greek mythology have shaped art and literature for thousands of years. They appear in Renaissance paintings such as Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Raphael’s Triumph of Galatea and writings like Dante’s Inferno; Romantic poetry and libretti; and scores of more recent novels, plays and films.” I think that it is great that the ancient Greeks came up with these myths. When I first started reading and listening about the Greek myths, I thought they were totally absurd. However, I now think that some myths tell entertaining stories and teach great lessons. Through this paper I will tell you about one of the myths we share today in our culture, share what Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung had to say about mythic structures of the human psyche, and explain why myths such as these bring us together socially and culturally. There are many things that shape the Greek world in the light of their identity; legends and myths, archeology, relationships, status, and much more. Myths is where some can find that gods are the sole creation of the Greek world due to the fact that they are the deity of the culture; without the gods there would be no extraordinary divine Greek and/or Roman culture. Within it there is a give and pull between the gods and mortal men as well as relation between Greeks and non- Greeks, the barbarians.…

Persians under the rule of King Xerxes have already taken over some of Greece’s city-states, and now threaten Sparta and Athens. A messenger sent by Xerxes attempts to present King Leonidas of Sparta with two options: either have to sacrifice the well-being of Sparta or have it burn to the ground. With submission not being an option, Leonidas forms an army of 300 Spartan warriors to block the narrow passage of Thermopylae where Xerxes intends to reach Hellas. The 300 are accompanied by about 1,000 Thespians and Akkadians who protect the flanks of the passage, and combined, the forces manage to slay tens of thousands of Persians and prevent their entry into Hellas for several days. However, Ephiattes, a reject of the Spartan Army gets his revenge by showing Xerxes a secret goat passage up the flanks of the Hot Gates. This movie depicts the epic last stand of the finest Spartan soldiers who are aware of their fate, but motivated by "honor and glory", see the battle as their duty to protect the rest of Greece for as long as possible. All Spartans ultimately knowing that their deaths were upon them, but leaving behind a tale of victory and…

Leonidas was the king of Sparta from 490 BC to 480BC after his death at the battle of Thermopylae. His leadership in this battle was considered his main contribution to the Persian wars and his legacy from this battle is considered one of the greatest battles in antiquity. His Spartan military tactics lead to a strong force against a very large Persian army but could not stop the Persian army and his defence and heroism at Thermopylae unfortunately did not become a deciding factor in the Persian wars.…
