She cared about the city and the people who lived in it. She spoke of her background with the city of Pawnee. Leslie made herself relatable to the crowd, and by doing so it made the audience want her to win, which was the exact purpose of this speech. She spoke on how long she had worked in government and how helping the people of Pawnee was her passion. And throughout her closing statement she became more passionate, which made her stand out.
When she was finished with her statement the crowd still had yet to make a sound. It was like the entire city was holding their breath, afraid that any sound would ruin the, what most would call it, perfect speech. Finally, Bobby Newport broke the spell, with some select language, telling her that her speech was awesome. And at his words the entire audience started and gave her the standing ovation she deserved. The speaker of this event, Leslie Knope, was trying to get through to the audience with her message. Her message of love and compassion for the city of Pawnee. Leslie was relatable yet professional, which made her memorable.
