Since I have been teaching for over 14 years in the early childhood field I choose one of my lesson plans. The age group that I most common work with are 4 and 5 year old at risk students as labeled by the State of North Carolina. This program is called NC Prekindergarten formerly known as More at Four. During this program I was a member of the Teacher Licensing Unit and we had specific guidelines that we had to use. These guidelines help us do in ongoing assessment on individual students in a large group setting. In order to accomplish this goal we had to use The Creative Curriculum in aligned with Foundations. We had to use a specific lesson plan format that I found to be very functional. The subject or theme that I choose was Air Transportation because of the children’s interest. Within this lesson plan I had to transform each interest center into a learning center based on the theme. Within the lesson plan I had to write down any and all changes that I was planning to implement.
The objective was based on which of the 50 items I felt necessary to enhance through learning activities. However, keep in mind that whichever item I choose was based on my observation of the students. Throughout, the learning process of this theme I was working within the centers, in small and large groups, as well as individual students. Therefore, I was able to talk anecdotal notes on the children. During this phrase the students would enhance as many skills as I could put into the lesson. Sometimes I added or deleted based on the individual students. The activities range from simple cutting to transforming Dramatic play into a space center for the children to use their imaginations as if they were in space. The students also enhanced their expressive and recessive language by playing or working with the teacher or teacher assistant. The students also had a chance to work on the computer to
