Let Me Love You Compare And Contrast
There are over half of a million words in the English vocabulary, and words can be arranged into billions of combinations. Despite this wide range of combinations, many forms of artwork have titles with the same combination of words. There are numerous songs that are given the same title. Furthermore, some of these duplicate titles fall into different musical genres; however, there is an occasional pair that belongs to the same genre. One popular example of this coincidence are the songs “Let Me Love You” sung by the two artists Mario and Ne-yo. Each song utilizes a different version of R&B to create a heartfelt ballad, yet both songs have aspects that link them together. Mario’s “Let Me Love You” utilizes his vocals and a smooth, rhythmic …show more content…

The song’s overture greets the listener to a piano chord and soft beat; then Ne-yo’s alto vocals enter. As Ne-yo’s vocals progress from the first verse to the chorus, the beat slowly crescendos, and the piano chords stop. Then, the instrumental shifts to an uptempo, techno beat. As the chorus develops, the beat escalates; then a deeper beat emerges into the background. Once the chorus concludes, the techno music decrescendos, the piano chords return, and Ne-yo’s high vocals retake center stage. As Ne-yo finishes the second verse, the piano wanes out and the techno music resurfaces. The remainder of the song is a merger of Ne-yo’s high vocals and the up-tempo beat. The up-tempo beat and Ne-yo’s vocals create an energetic style of R&B. Each song's musical style create a portion of what makes their songs memorable; the story within their lyrics complete each song’s …show more content…

The lyrics begin by stating that the girl believes that she is not worthy to receive any love. She sees herself as unattractive due to her small imperfections. In causality, she believes her looks are why she has not experienced real love. Ne-yo goes on to sing that her minor imperfections do not take away from her true beauty. He proceeds to say that he wants to help her find a reason to smile and help her get over her pain. The story ends as he tells her that she should allow him to show her how actual love feels, so she can love herself the way she is.
Despite their different musical styles and narratives, the two songs share more than just a title. Both songs were co-written by the same person, the singer and songwriter Ne-yo. Ne-yo’s meaningful lyrics and style can be heard in each of the songs. Even though each song tells a different story, when compared to one another Ne-yo’s lyrics entail the same powerful message: everyone is perfect, and we only need someone else to open our eyes to our own beauty. Their message and differing rhythms produce two separate and inspiring soulful

In today’s world, conscious hip-hop has become the new blues. Although there are many musical alterations, conscious hip-hop currently serves the purpose that the blues once served for the African American community. This style of music speaks about the new hardships experienced by the community, and portrays it in a way that can be felt by anybody who has had the same, or similar, experiences.…

Each piece was performed right after or during an emotional scene. Resentment by Beyoncé, was performed by Madeline Curran. The scene that occurred before that was about infinitely and cheating. The scene left me when an emotion of sympathy and melancholy. Curran started the dynamic of the song very soft and delicate. Throughout the song, Curran continue to fade in and out of softness and loudness. Curran gave a strong emotion when she was singing the piece. She performed with such a pride and poise. The pitch throughout the piece had steady lowness. There were no moments in the piece that was sung in a high note. Since the song was song acapella, it was a little hard to find the beat of the piece. Curran did play with the tempo of the song.…

One of the more noticeable techniques used to evoke feelings and thoughts from the reader are the structure and rhythm that the song evolves. This is clearly visible in the first verse, alike the others, the first line rhymes with the second and the third with the fourth. For example the repletion of the whole end consonant sounds like ‘Sahn and man', ‘turkey and city'. The fifth line of the verse links the song to the next verse. A clear structure and rhythm establishes a clear, strong sound to enforce the meaning of the lyrics being sung.…

First, the diction in the song proves the confusion that Jhene feels about her relationship. The diction remarks both confusion and realization. Jhene sings about the confusion she feels associated with, “Are you sure we haven’t met before?” and “But I don’t know you?” She also emphasizes the feeling of realization, “I know ya face, I know ya name” (www.metrolyrics.com). All these examples of diction explain the confusion she feels about what’s going on in her relationship. She realizes that the person she once knew has now become a stranger to her, a familiar feeling she’s had in other relationships from her past.…

The first song I am analyzing, “Building Steam With a Grain of Salt,” is the second track on “Endtroducing...”. The introduction of the song starts with a man’s voice saying “producing…” The song then jumps to a few twinkling of simple, high-octave piano notes played continuously with the plucking of a few lower octave notes to accompany it and set the rhythm of the song. There is a strong, hypnotizing drum beat that enters the song. The beat is at a slower tempo. It is very similar to a hip-hop style beat. Then what sounds like a choir singing starts, which sets the mood for the rest of the song. The whole song has a smooth, calming melody. The darkened, whimsical melody of the piano along with scratching of records, funky guitar riffs, xylophones, and scattered drum beats make up the rich texture of the song. The song, being mainly instrumental, has the constant melody of the piano, steady rhythm of the…

I agree with our text when it says, “Song of Songs is about human, not divine love” (p. 744). Additionally, the relationship described in the book occurred within a specific context. That is, it “portrays a monotheistic view of sex, which stands over and against the alternative view of Baal worship” (p. 745). Baal was the fertility god that the people worshipped through ceremonial prostitution and sex.…

Lorde uses a metaphor to describe how her relationship was like in the past. (FIX) In fact, in Verse 1 she says, "I do my best to meet her standards. Then say you're a little much for me. You're a liability" (Lorde). This word liability is important to notice because Lorde might've caused the breakup. As a result, this shows that Lorde is responsible for the breakup. When she was in that relationship, her boyfriend might've realized that Lorde was too much to handle and didn't spend as much time with him as he liked. (FIX) Also, in Verse 1, she sings "Baby really hurt me. Crying in the taxi. He don't wanna know me. Says he made the big mistake of dancing in my storm" (Lorde). This sentence he don't wanna know me shows how he doesn't want to be in a relationship with Lorde.…

Also Ne-Yo sings about how one person in the relationship could crave the other person because they are in love with them while the other person doesn't quite know how they feel -- leaving the one person that is in love to convince them why they should develop feelings back. That sounds a little forced but situations like that are caused by timing usually and the other person tends to love the other person back they just weren't so sure at the same time. In his song "Let Me Love You" he pretty much says that this one girl almost doesn't feel worthy of being in love so he sings about convincing her and mentioning all the reasons why she should. He says things that show that he cares about this girl and that he thinks they have true love between them. He is willing to give this girl everything he has because he is in love with her, in a real true love, both people should be completely and totally willing to do anything for each other. When you are in love someone they become your whole life and you care about them and their well-being above anything…
