Let People Own Exotic Animals By Zuzana Kukol

When I was younger, I remember my parents taking me to a zoo. I was so excited to see the tigers, and it seemed like they acted like they would in the wild. The tigers had plenty of space to roam in, and the habitat was replicated almost exactly like their habitat in the wild. They had food, water, and even toys. Most of the tigers were with other tigers, so they had someone to play with. They were cared for by professionals. I couldn't imagine someone with no experience trying to care for an exotic animal like that. That is why I believe some people should be able to own exotic animals. Some people don't know how to care for animals properly, and they can get hurt, or hurt the animal. Also some people can care for animals like this without getting hurt,
In the editorial, Kukol describes that people should be able to own exotic animals if they can care for them properly. People shouldn't be allowed to take wild animals into their homes without anyone knowing if they have a criminal record or if they have a history of animal abuse. If irresponsible people are trusted with animals who need lots of care and attention, the animal might not survive. Lastly, if inexperienced people are taking care of exotic animals, they have more of a chance of getting injured by them than a professional. I read a piece called, “Can Animals Feel and Think?” The author explains that animals have complex minds, and scientific procedures were taken to test animal’s minds. They showed that animals can remember, and may remember you, or your actions. Some animals can even sense amazing things, like where you've been, and how long you've been gone. Exotic animals may hurt people because of their actions. But they also might grow a strong bond, or connection, to someone because of their actions. I don't think it's fair to take exotic animals away from professional owners because of what other people have
