Letter About School Lunches
Dear, Mr. Shaw
I’m very sorry that I must do this, but you basically brought us to this. The School lunches are Disgusting! It tastes like it came out of the trash can! I mean it even looks like it’s a piece of trash! I doubt you would know because you and the other staff members of the school get fancy meals! This is an outrage and all of the other students of FHMS agree with me! Also, why would you charge us 2.00 dollars for a lunch! That is ridiculous for this piece of trash! That is why all of the students attending FHMS are going to stop purchasing lunches! Face it, you brought this upon yourself! If you weren’t so cheap and bought us good, tasty, and quality lunches we may have kept purchasing your lunches!

Mr. Shaw, You have taken

Instead you sit in your chair, counting all the bills you get because you overcharge us for this discolored food! It probably costs you about 30 cents to make these lunches but instead you decide to charge us $2.00 for lunch! At least take consideration on how we and the parents feel about this …show more content…

We would ask you over and over again but still you don’t listen to us! I know you are trying to do your job and listen to the district, but I was at CMMS the other day and they only charged $1.00 per lunch! That just proves that you have taken advantage of us! Well I’m just here to tell you that we are sick of it and we are done with you!
In conclusion, you could have avoided this the whole time! But nope, you decided to hog the money to yourself and spend on things this school doesn’t need when you could be spending it on our satisfaction! Well we are done with you being unfair and selfish! I hope you get fired so that I won’t have to deal with your selfishness ever again!
-Love,
The students of

Koltiska also reports that the poor students receive this despite the…

How would a student feel if they knew that the USDA allowed the school to provide meals which could make them unhealthy, or even sick? Lunch, as most know, is a very important part of a student’s school day. The food eaten at lunch should provide enough energy to complete the school day as a focused, learning student, and, for some students, to get through after school activities such as athletics and clubs; however, it is being seen more and more often that this is not the case. Chatham County Schools needs to improve its school lunches because the quantity, quality, and cost ratios are inadequate for the success of their students.…

Recently there has been revisions to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and schools were required to overhaul their entire menus to provide the students with healthy and nutritious foods including fruits and vegetables. The new school lunch rules are part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which has been implemented this fall. (Post Standard) The Hunger Act allows the USDA the opportunity to make reforms to the school lunch and breakfast programs. With these revisions come strict guidelines from the federal government that each school district must follow in order to receive funding and reimbursement (National School Lunch Program, 2012, August p. 1). In this essay i will be comparing the positive and negative effects of these recent revisions to the NSLP. I will then discuss whether or not these changes are beneficial to the children receiving the meal and whether NSLP is leaving children hungry or helping children make healthy food choices.…

First, students are not buying these new, healthier lunches because they cannot enjoy them. The lunches from before and the lunches now are so drastically different from before they find it hard to eat. Whether because it’s because of the cooks not being able to make them work or it’s the food itself. These lunches are not being sold. Something must be done or majority of students will either eat home lunches or simply not eat at all, which is bad for their health and will hurt them.…

I did not design the lunch menu for my center; however, I serve it to my children on a daily basis. We use the CRMC food service, which has many benefits. One positive aspect is that there is no extra cost to the center, and enough food is delivered daily so that each child is served the appropriate proportions. My center works with the hospital to create a “short cycle menu,” a menu that is different everyday and repeats itself after a certain number of days, specifically a one-week cycle menu that is chosen by our director with faculty input. This cycle menu shows strengths because the children seem to enjoy a shorter cycle of fewer foods, and our director is able to control the menu to ensure that quality foods are served. The food served each day includes the food groups required for a balanced diet with whole milk. None of the meals contain potential choking hazards and all food is cut with food scissors for my age group. Each month, our center updates our allergy alert sheet, which is posted in every classroom. The staff complies to each child’s needs everyday at lunch and snack. I would not change my centers lunch menu because it promotes a healthy diet, meets their nutritional needs, and the children like it.…

Imagine trying to make yourself lunch everyday using only $2.95 This is what schools are forced to do on a daily basis in order to feed thousands of children. Schools have to be able to create a lunch for children that will satisfy their hunger, using only almost $3 per child. How can we expect our children to be getting the proper and nutritional food with such a small budget? Why aren't we doing more to to make sure the kids in our country are eating healthy meals while away from home? How can we make sure the students will react positive to healthier school lunches after being exposed to such unhealthy food for so long? There are so many questions to be asked and many answers to be given. I think we need to focus more attention on this dilemma because these kids are our future, and we need to make sure our future is as healthy physically and mentally as can be. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) gives schools cash and commodities to set the cost of the program's food and foodservice. Added cash is provided to lunches for low-income children. To participate in the program, schools must serve lunches that meet Federal nutritional requirements and offer free and cheap lunches to children determined eligible for such benefits”(Price, Kuhn 1). Taking care of the future is a necessity and the national school lunch program reduces prices and brings in better food…
