Hello. I am Ailing who is living in Shanghai. I’m 11 years old now, and I love drawing. I know that you will be wondered ‘why this young girl is sending me the letter?’. The purpose of this letter for you, is to tell you my life story. Please read carefully.
I was born in Shanghai 11 years ago. I was the first baby for my parents, so they loved me very much. One day, my mom became pregnant again. It was 3 years ago. I remember how much they felt happiness by that fact. They prepared for that baby with big smile, and whispered everyday to me how the baby will be amazing. And, after 3 months, the dream had gone. One day, some policemen came to our house and took my mom. We couldn’t follow her, because the men were with guns. After 1 week, my mom came back to home with blank look. With a vacant face, she was grabbing her belly which became flat. At first, I thought baby already came out from her abdomen and she was just tired by that process. However, my younger brother didn’t come to my house ever. I started to feel something wrong, and by surfing the internet, I got a shocking information. That was “One child policy” of China.
I think you might already guessed what do I want to talk about. “One child policy”, is a law which “kill” the human whose heart is running.
“One child policy” was started for the beautiful purpose which was decreasing Chinese population to make them happier. I knew that you heard someone say Chinese population will be
10 hundred million in a few years, and it became the reality. You might noticed the seriousness of this country, and started to do this cruel policy. Is this fact which I found is right?” However, there are a lot of problems which is occurring by the law, that is much more important than population problem.
First of all, Chinese will be the most cold-blooded people in the world. Most of people in the world, learn how to love by loving their baby. By caring their baby, they learn how to give their attention to others, and by devoting for their baby, people learn how to give their whole life for others who they really love. However, this policy is snatching their chance to study love with making big wound to their heart, by killing their baby.
Second, please think about me. I’m a girl, and I’m 11 years old now. My parents will die just in
40 years, and I will be alone. I need someone, who can be the support of me when I’m sorrowful or exhausted. Also, just seeing the present, there are lots of results which show the reason why children must have siblings. For example, Professor Hansberger in Sweden godenberg university announced that children without siblings are more likely to be fat, because they do not have enough people to play, and they feel solitude.
Third, the number of female is decreasing. Because of your policy, people prefer to have a boy than girl, because girls do not continue the family name, and they will leave the house when they
got married. Also, because of the reason that girls does not bring the house any profits like money or labor power, people started to throw away the girls to get a boy in their next pregnant.
Is it the one which you wanted? Making parents to throw away their baby and living in the full of guilty conscience?
I know that this letter would make you angry. You may say that this is the duty of you to make your China happier. And, I’m not talking about your purpose. Of course government must always think about how to make your people to be in a better environment and better life. However, the way, is wrong. Totally wrong. Your way, will incur another bigger problem, and you will have to find another more powerful way to cure it.
Thank you for reading this long letter. I’m too young to understand the adults’ things, but there is one which I know exactly. “One only thing, which cure all of the problem of human, is not the strict law or punishment, but love.”
Best regards.
