Letter of Intent

Dear Senior Project Board:

The general area of my project was the first parole system, which was created in 1861. Today the system of the United States is heading towards a down fall. This is so by giving the most dangerous incarcerated parole due to the overcrowding in the prison system. To build my knowledge base I have found and read books about the American Federal System, and ultimately it led me to how the parole system is set up and how probation works. What I already knew about my topic was that making parole gives you a little bit of freedom, but having certain limits and that it was first created in 1861. With being a parolee you can only go a certain amount of distance from your home. Instead of having fun and being out at late as you want, you will be given a curfew to when you have to be inside for the night.

The research my paper will focus on is an article from Susan M. Campus and books written by Mamie Till-Mobley, Debra A. Miller, Lauri S. Scherer, and Ahmariah Jackson. Ideas I’m hoping to use is how easily a prisoner can be created based off one’s mind set. The resources I plan to use are my peers, teachers, and those who are in the Law Enforcement field to the best of my ability. Specific questions I would want to answer are “What can we do to better the system?”, “Does prison rehabilitation helps the paroled change they life around?”, and “Is overcrowding the real issue behind our failing system?”. To do my research I would need to know what to look up, make sure I know what I want my topic to be, and to have some types of statics.

My paper relates my product by me conducting an interview asking different questions about the parole system and what they think about it. This senior project is about state prisons releasing inmates including some of the most dangerous ones on parole due to the overcrowding. Those who are involved in this project are the judges, myself, my peers, and those who I have instructed interviews for. I been working on my senior project for some weeks now and found that it’s challenging my mind and me to be successful. This could potentially be a learning challenge for some because it might open and sink into their minds about the consequences behind their actions.

Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own. The dangers of it plagiarism is going to jail, being expelled from school, or even sued. When it comes to academic papers plagiarism is not authorized. Those who do recurrently faces disciplinary from their school or universities. Consequence of one cannot use another person’s material without citation and reference is one of the most important because the author can sue you.
