Letter Of Motivation
Subject: Letter of motivation for exchange program 2016-2017
Dear Sir/Madam,
As a third year student of Civil Engineering and Urban Planning Department at INSA Lyon, I would like to express my desire to participate in INSA Lyon’s exchange program to grow my field of study in English-speaking countries.
I am particularly interested in both Singapore and the United Kingdom where I could find great opportunities to discover the world, to expand my knowledge and explore the work environment in the world’s meeting point with a blend of social, cultural and educational mix as in Singapore or in the UK – the gateway to the rest of Europe.
Being my prioritized selection, Singapore would be for me, to discover an Asian way of working, thinking and living, and to learn from a strong Engineering industry.
I am aware that this exchange program is not a simple journey but a working trip from which I may gain unique experiences that few students have the chance to do? Moreover, three years of working for the Association of Vietnamese Student at INSA Lyon, being involved in an amount of activities in France (Asian Week, New Year party dancing program in Lyon, New Year party dancing program in Toulouse), taking part in “Everyday Life and University Culture” show held by France Alumni in Hanoi, I believe that I am an suitable candidate to represent INSA Lyon’s student.
I would like to show my gratitude to your attention to my application and I hope that I could be a successful candidate.
Yours faithfully,

Prior to my research, I did not know much about the Vietnamese people or their culture. I learned about the Viet Nam War, and about how many innocent people were persecuted. I was familiar with the stereotype that all Asian children excel in school and are great musicians. I have experienced that many of the local nail salons here in Florida are owned and operated by Vietnamese people. I have also heard that Vietnamese gangs are of the most violent. I have not been in contact with many Vietnamese people in my life, but I am looking forward to learning more about them.…

I have experienced many memorable events in my life, but perhaps the most wonderful moment that I have experienced so far is when I received the news that my student visa to the United States had been approved by the US Embassy Officer. At that moment, I knew that my life would change forever, and I would be embarking on a new exciting journey. .Applying for an F1 Visa is not an easy process for Vietnamese students, especially for students who have failed the interview process multiple times like I did. Finally after failing the previous five interviews I finally succeeded on my sixth try. I was so ecstatic when I heard the news that I was given the opportunity to study aboard in the USA; it was evident that all my hard work had finally paid off! The day before I left Vietnam, my emotions were filled with both nervousness and excitement because I knew endless possibilities that were awaiting me. Unfortunately, not everything was as easy as I thought it was going to be.…
