LETTER TO MYSELF EXAMPLE

Dear Sidney at age forty; When I get to be forty I would like to congratulate myself for persevering through graduate school even if I did not know what I was going to do at first. I am glad that I can say I was interested enough in learning that I kept going back, despite life’s many eruptions and trials to pursue a profession that I believe will improve the world at its large, rather than something motivated by a financial approval! Too my family I want to say how proud I am of myself for never leaving a rift standing between people who love me because they are the people who will be there even in the darkest of times/moments. I think it is important that I keep in my mind that I am happy of never becoming to jaded to help people in need, or to do the right thing; not because people want me too, but because I want to sleep at night knowing I am making, feeling, and doing the right thing. The greatest gift I am able to teach my child… and people in my life is that the good life and positivity comes from creating and effecting as much of it that I can in spaces that I move through. I am also proud of learning through observing the catastrophic natural disasters of my youth; examples being… hurricane Sandy and Catrina and the 911 terrorist attack. By which, the wealth is not based on “stuff,” but contents of resilience, love, and personal bonds. I would like to give my mom and dad a huge thankyou for always being there for me whenever I needed them. They have gotten me so far in life. They have taught me all I could ever want to know. I use to love hearing all of my dad’s crazy animal stories and my mom’s oh-so-hot boyfriend stories. They have taught me great life lessons that I will never forget. They are my heroes and I couldn’t ask for any better. In life, we all have role models, id like to thank my role model, Miss Stephanie Dandridge for influencing me to have fun, stay safe, and most of all how to be a great mother! I always loved how she treated her children and I am glad I have grown to fulfill her spot with my own children. My motivation in life is to never stop, to keep on chugging along. I am not like the other people around me, I have had diabetes since I was five and I feel very brave, courageous, and responsible with this. I know what it is like to feel different but that doesn’t bother me because I know I have friends and that I am not the only one with diabetes in this world! I have a great amount of confidence, while in highs school a lot of stuff happens and the big question at that age is to believe what others say or to think it is just a rumor. I had a lot of things said about me when I was in junior high and throughout high school. The big problem at holy trinity is now and was that if one thing happened everyone new about it in an hour. I remember saying that I hated that school and I wanted to leave but my parents wouldn’t let me because they wanted me to go to a good college but I get and got a lot of crap from holy trinity kids. Although awful things were said about me I tended to not listen because I knew in my heart that was full of confidence that the kids at that school did and still don’t know my personal life… at all. Most of all, I am proud of myself for learning to trust and never be coerce out of trusting my own instincts, when the hairs on the back of my neck go up I believe.
