Letter To Phosphoros
Dear reader, my original name is In Greek, Phosphoros, which means bringer of light, but I prefer to be called by my English name Phosphorus, but for easier reasons you can call me P. I am pretty much at the beginning of the periodic table, thanks to my atomic number of 15. Wonder what’s an atomic number? It is basically the number of protons, which is my positive charge, that I contain at my nucleus. The nucleus does not only contain protons, but also neutrons, which will be important to know of and will talk about it soon.

I was discovered in 1669 by my closest human friend, Henning Brand. He is such a wonderful human and I love him a lot. He discovered me by extracting me from buckets of urine. In the history of all elements,

My density, which is the ratio of my mass (amount of matter I contain) and volume (space I take up) is of 1.82 grams per cubic centimeter. To have a reference point, water has a density of water is 1 gram per cubic centimeter, so if I’m placed in water, I would sink and drown, therefore you would kill me, so don’t you dare to throw me to water. My usual appearance or phase is of solid state, meaning I have a definite shape and volume. If you decide to burn me, the temperature at which I would be melted is at 111.47 degrees Fahrenheit. The opposite, the temperature at which I would boil, is at 536.9 degrees …show more content…
For your information, humans contain 750 grams of me, Phosphorus, mostly in your bones. I am a vital part of living cells, including nervous tissue and bones of many cells.

Plants consider me as one of their best friends, due to the fact that I am a vital nutrient for them and I am used as fertilizers to make them nutrient-rich and keep them living healthy. I am also used in flares and incendiary devices. I bet you have seen me, I am the red part of matches you use to turn on the candles to sing Happy Birthday to someone. I am also known as a big part for the production of steel, glasses and fine chinaware. I consider myself to be ver useful for human beings.

I unluckily believe that my time to pass out from the face of Earth is coming soon, because scientists observe that at the current rate of my consumption, I am going to run out and not be found on Earth in around 50-100 years. So I would like to kindly ask you to use me with caution and try not to wear me out and give me more years of life

This was a hobby that David decided to take up and began finding tons of information relating to this topic. David found out different elements that are characterized further by the protons that are in their nuclei. Some examples of the way these elements are characterized are Carbon, Neon, and Sodium. Carbon contains six protons, therefore, the atomic number is six. Same with Neon and Sodium; Neon has ten protons and Sodium has eleven. Furthermore, Neon's atomic number is ten and Sodium's atomic number is eleven. He furthered in his research on this topic and learned that the atomic weight(atomic mass) is calculated by knowing the number of protons and neutrons put together.…

Phosphorus is in fertilizers that us humans use. Phosphorus mines are found all over the United States and humans turn it into products, such as fertilizer, detergents, animal feeds as well as other products. When we use a lot of phosphorus we are taking the chances of it ending up somewhere. That some where is usually in bodies of water. Lakes, ponds, rivers and oceans, which can not be healthy for the animals. When it gets into the water it can cause algae and bateria growth to increase, not only is that too much for the fish to live in, but phosphorus alone can kill the fish. When farmers use fertilizer what contains phosphorus it eventaully gets washed away from watering the crops as well as rain. Where does water run? Into bodies of water, the bodies of water such as again lakes, ponds, rivers and oceans. This makes a unhealthy water enviroment for the fish damaging the water and can harm and or kill the fish.
