Letter To Ponyboy And Johnny
Letter to Ponyboy & Johnny

Write a letter to Ponyboy and Johnny. In that letter, discuss at least three things they did wrong, and what they should have done instead. Each thing they did wrong, plus your advice, needs to be its own paragraph.

Ponyboy, and Johnny,

Hello Ponyboy and Johnny, its Jackson. I just heard your story and I must say I think you guys are amazing. I thought I knew you pretty well, but then this story totally changed my idea of you. I think that you guys did a lot of things right and also a few things wrong. I would really appreciate it if you would read this I would really appreciate it. I know that everybody makes mistakes, I just wanted to point a few of them out to you. The first thing that I thought was wrong was mostly Ponyboy. I think that I personally would have tried to get Cherry back. She really seemed like the perfect girl for you. I know that Cherry didn’t like you at the time, but I think that if she got to know you more she might have changed her mind. I know that after everything that happened girls were probably not your first priority. I just could tell that you were really happy when you were with Cherry and I think that you should always do what makes you happy.

I would have not been so scared of Dally. I know that he was big and tough but I think that he really had a good side to him. I know that you Johnny looked up to him but I also know that you were a little scared of him. You guys knew him better than I do so I could be wrong. I just think that if Dally was really your friend and part of you gang he wouldn’t really hurt you. Just don’t be afraid to stick up for

In the beginning of the story Dally and Ponyboy didn't get along the best. But throughout the story they became closer. Dally’s death happened right after he stole from the store. The cops showed up and circled around Dally under a street light. Dally soon pulled out a gun and acted like it was loaded but it really wasn't. How would the cops know that? They did not know that. After the cops told Dally to put the gun down multiple times and Dally still wouldn't do it so they shot him. Ponyboy took this really hard because him and Dally had gotten very close. Also dally had helped Ponyboy and Johnny out whenever they needed something. So I think that Ponyboy was really mad because he didn't stop it from happening. Also now Ponyboy is dealing with two deaths of his very good friends. “I knew he would be dead, because Dally Winston wanted to be dead and he always got what he wanted” said Ponyboy (Hinton…

Me and Johnny have been hiding from the police for a couple of days now. I'm sure Darry, Soda, and the rest of the gang are worried sick about us. I haven't gotten much sleep since we went into hiding, I am betting Johnny hasn't either because it is hard to get good sleep while your laying on the cold floor of an abandoned church and when you are thinking about everything that went on with our lives the past couple days. Earlier today Johnny went to the store to get some food and supplies with the $50 dollars Dally gave us to live off of while we are hiding. Besides getting food, Johnny got me a copy of Gone With The Wind because he knew I love that book so much and he wanted me to read it to him. He also got some cards…

Johnny and Dally share one big similarity and that is that they both have abusive parents. Johnny’s parents don’t pay any attention to him or they beat him, that really bugs Johnny. The rest of the gang notices that and they show Johnny the affection that he needs. Ponyboy says “‘His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignores him”’ (12). It is very obvious that Johnny is sensitive about his situation at home. Dally is the opposite of Johnny is his situation at home, he does not care about his parents or if they care about him. Dally says to Johnny, “‘My old man don’t give a hang whether I’m in jail or dead in a car wreck or drunk in the gutter. That don’t…

Body Paragraph 1: The one most affected by these negative labels is Dally because the words they used to describe him is hood, crook, greaser, hopeless, criminal, and heartless. These are incredibly destructive labels because he got so used to them that he does not love anyone back and I think it is because of his label Heartless. Dally even said “He could never love Cherry Valance back” He barely even loved anything I mean besides the gang and he really did not care when Johnny said he killed Bob Dally just said “Good for you.” He is also addicted to hate because he used to everyone hating him or just saying other things about him. I think he needs a quote like this one “Dear haters I couldn’t help but notice that AwesoMe ends with Me and Ugly starts with U.” That quote explains Dally in my opinion.…

The thing about Dally that would’ve stayed the same, is probably his personality. This is because it is so strong it is just so hard to change. He is tough, mean, risky, and overall a crazy person. These qualities you can’t change most of the time. He dedicated his whole life to trying to be the bad boy of the group, and really get out there. He succeeded doing this because many people were afraid of him, and many people generally loved him. “Dally hated to do things the legal way,” (Hinton 20). In this quote it explains how Dally played by his own rules. It shows that he won’t obey the laws…

He saved Ponyboy’s life. Dally gave Pony the jacket that prevented his back from catching on fire. After Pony was knocked unconscious Dally ran inside the building and saved Johnny from being burnt to death. The newspaper even called him a hero. In the novel, Ponyboy exclaims, “For once, there weren't any charges against Dally, and I knew he'd be mad because the paper made him out a hero for saving Johnny” (pg. 107) This part of the novel shows that Dally is a hero, because he thought about his friends' health and safety instead of his…

To begin, Dally helped Pony and Johnny get away when they were in trouble. Dally told Johnny and Pony “Hop the three-fifteen freight to Windrixville.” “There’s an abandoned church on the top of Jay Mountain.” (Hinton 61). This demonstrates how Dally doesn’t want Pony and Johnny to get put in jail like him, so he helps them get out of town so no one can catch them. Secondly, Dally saved Johnny from the fire at the church. The nurse said to Pony “He burned his arm pretty badly though, trying to drag the other kid out the window.” (Hinton 95). This means Dally risked his life just like Johnny did for Pony, to save Johnny from the fire when he got trapped. As you can see, Dally showed he was a hero during the book.…

Without Johnny Dally wouldn’t be here. Dally loved Johnny to Dally Johnny was little pet and would try not to let anything happen to him. The reason I chose this as one of the events of Johnny being a hero because Dally wouldn't be as strong as he was without him. “We gotta get even with the Socs. For Johnny.” (Hinton,125) He was a hero for Johnny because if he didn't get hurt he probably wouldn’t have gotten even with the Socs and things would not be normal again they would be the same but maybe worse.…

In fact, I “never heard Johnny talk back to anyone, much less his hero,” which was you, by the way (Hinton 23). You were his hero, Dally, even though you had a really bad reputation, he still admired you. The Dally that I know, would live for Johnny and he would move on with his life, not end it in a way that would make Johnny upset with you. When you finally make your decision, just think about Johnny and how he would respond to all of…

Crazy for wantin' Johnny to stay out of trouble, for not wanting' him to get hard. If he'd been like me he'd never have been in this mess." (106). He is also brave because when he had a broken arm due to the fire, he still went to the rumble to help fight the Soc, when he said, “We gotta win that fight tonight. We gotta get even with those Socs! Let's do it for Johnny, man. We'll do it for Johnny!:He is a hero because he at least cared for one person which was Johnny because he felt bad for him. Dally is a good hero because he genuinely put his effort into trying to help the gang and to help Johnny and Ponyboy run away. He even provided them with money, gun, and sweater. He's an example of a hero because even though he loved just Johnny, he still loved the whole…

During my 18 years on this earth I have had a lot of positive things in my life, but also a lot of disappointing times. Example in 5th grade I told my supposed “best friend” a secret that I haven’t told anyone before. The next day the whole school knew… I was humiliated and hurt.…
