From experience, I know you are having a hard time adjusting to your surroundings, but things will fall into their place in due time; do not get discourage. As I stated earlier, you will be attending school at Valencia College Majoring in Criminal Justice, and I also stated that many things you plan will not go according to plan; I know Criminal Justice is far from a medical degree, but you will understand the reason behind this change of mind as you proceed in life.
Classroom rules, Who should give a care in the world for them? That is your mindset right now when it comes to following your teachers directions, trust me pal, I would advise you follow these rules for your rebellious act against them will result in greater punishments. Fighting against your fellow peers seems to be your forte, which you think is the best solution to your current situation, I can assure you; IT IS NOT. As a matter of facts, it is the worst, and as you grow up to the awesome, calm and collected guy I am, you will reminisce upon those times as I
Am right now, laughing at yourself asking, “What were you thinking Briand?”
Therefore, as a result to stirring up trouble in the classroom and advocating for every Haitians at
D.P high (not that there’s anything wrong with defending them; Hint: Criminal Justice major),
Why not throw in some after school extracurricular activities to your schedule, \or join a sport team? I believe you will make a great soccer or basketball player.
You always had a thing for crazy girls and I am still trying to figure out why you always go for
Them. In the middle of the third nine weeks semester of your senior year, you will encounter
Suzanne Felizor; the girl you will think is the girl of your dream, even when every signs will be screaming “DANGER ALERT!!” Heads up man, she’s not as angelic as she may seem and stay far away from her house as possible. In the beginning of your 2013 fall semester of college, you will cross path with a certain young lady. Man will she be the hardest girl you will ever meet!!
You were this close to quitting, until she finally opens up. I can’t really help you out with name that would be cheating, nonetheless you will be impressed (so go on and pat yourself on the back). In November 17, 2013, you will blossom a relationship with that certain young lady and my advice to you will be “try your hardest” because girls like her are scarce to find. I think she may be the one and right now you are thinking “how is she different from that crazy girl
Suzanne?” The first time you lay eyes on her, you will see. Treat her right man.
Lastly, I know you can take care of yourself, except in those categories, good luck with the upcoming chaos you are going to cause. I will not tip you on that event because it is the reason I am who I am today; you are going to handle it like a boss!
Sincerely, 23 years old self

My approach to writing my letter was very different than my approach to a writing a typical research essay. Instead of appealing to a professor, I was appealing to someone on more of an emotional level instead of an intellectual level. Although I discussed some facts in my letter, I did not go into nearly as much depth as I would in an essay. I also was trying to ask for something in my letter, where in an essay, I am trying to give the reader information not gain information from the reader. I felt more comfortable writing my letter because it was more like a typical conversation or an email. I could have more freedom with what I say and not have to follow as strict of guidelines. The letter felt more like me because it was all from my own brain and not mainly research that I had collected. I will use my experience with writing this letter to benefit future letters because I know a good structure for a letter that I can use for future letters. I also know how to incorporate all three aspects of rhetoric so it is more likely for me to get a response.…

4g. Personal Source: The expectations within classrooms have always been there and just along with that the people who do not follow them have always been there . Before taking English 101A, I was not confident in my writing ability. I never was able to wrap my head around what I was supposed to do and often wrote off topic. I would spend too much time looking at the screen thinking of what to write. My essays often turned out to be a summary; this was reoccurring. I feel that this class strongly helped me develop some standard and basic skills for writing an essay. The amount of time we spent breaking down each of the three essays was very helpful for me. It helped me really realize that I need to get into deeper thought to correctly analyze the text and put it on paper. I have obtained the knowledge from learning in the classroom that acquiring the ability to thoroughly analyze, make points for my body paragraphs, create a thesis, etc., is much simpler than I made it for myself prior. I now realize that I overthought too much while writing essays. I used to try to perfect every sentence as I wrote or typed. I found myself using so much time doing this. I found that just writing my ideas and thoughts down first, while ignoring diction, punctuation, and the flow of the sentences, and revising after made for a much more efficient and successful process. My experience in this class has really opened my eyes to realize that essay writing is a much simpler process than I thought it to be.…

I would like to start off by saying that this class has greatly improved my writing skills. Learning the other side of the thinking process was great. I came across some challenges, but seemed to overcome them the more I wrote and practiced throughout this semester. These skills I did learn will help me continue to grow, and take control as I travel my future educational roads. So far this class English 101 has been motivating and interesting for me. Some of the topics that we covered was the cyborg theory. I am a bit on the rusty side with using citations and quotations properly, but I know I have improved quite a bit in a short period of time while working on writing papers this semester. My biggest success, in my opinion, would be my unique writing style writing in ways that I have never written before or helped evolved my brain in another level of success, and my ability to use a broad vocabulary. Since I have been in this class my vocabulary has really improved I have used some words that I normally wouldn’t have used in high school. While writing my essays the biggest challenge that I have run into is using terms and quotes from other sources to back up my main points and explaining the quote. Before I came into this class I had a little understanding of how to place my quotes, but after learning from TSIS has really giving me a jumpstart to what I need to know about templates and inserting quotes from my sources. TISI has helped me make a huge improvement not only in my writing but has given me a better understanding then what I have had before in the English department. The movies in this class have affected me more than I had anticipated in a good way of course. I have never used a movie as one of my sources and this semester I have improved by learning how to do so. Reading about the cyborg theory has been interesting covering aspects and situations in life that could or could not happen, but it leaves a lot of room for the realization of…

Having a presentation the first day of school was both scary and exciting, but being challenged in different ways than what we are used to, is something I have been looking forward to. I had chosen to speak about talk-show host and personality Oprah Winfrey, who has been an inspiration to me reasoned her strong motivation and drive for what she believes in. After my presentation my thoughts were that it went okay, even tough I had been nervous and a bit stressed in advance. If I were to say my biggest strengths, it would be that my English is good, that I am perceived as sincere and for the most part speak clearly without a script. Speaking to low was my biggest weakness, and I also could have used my nonverbal communication better.…

Change can be difficult part of a person’s life, oftentimes quite harrowing. Some may find change to be a good thing. I, on the other hand, find it to be more than former. This great change in my life was when my family was forced to move to a new city when I was fourteen. Not only, was I facing a great change, but it would be a change that would affect me for the rest of my life. When I found out that we were moving, I was frightened. I was going to lose all of my friends. I was going to have to start over. That was scary. Being the new kid in school is awful and upsetting, and I was not looking forward to that at all. Already being a shy person who has trouble connecting with new people, being forced to start at a new school was absolutely terrifying.…
