Look at the factors below how will could they affect a child’s life; * Education; poor education could effect future goals and aspirations * Disability; unable to access certain services or activities * Poverty; poor health and hygiene, lack of activities and experiences being accessed * Housing; poor health, unable to develop fully. * Offending behaviour; convictions, effecting social ties and job opportunities * Health status; effect social ties, education, job opportunities * Personal choice; effect social ties, education, job opportunities, crime * Family expectations; effect social ties, route of progression, job role, pressure * Religion; social ties, pressure to conform, rebellion * Culture/Ethics; social ties, education, jobs, relationships in the future * Care system; social ties education, relationships, crime, development
1.2. Explain the importance of poverty on outcomes and life chances for children
Effects of poverty; * Development * Social inclusion * Awareness * Understanding * Health * Crime
Poverty can have a negative effect on a child; the health needs may not be met. Poor diet, unable to afford specialised services and treatments.
By being in poverty it could affect the social ties they make, this could lead to anti-social behaviour and crime. Or they be isolated from groups do to their poor clothing, financial poverty.
1.3. Explain the role of children’s personal choices and experiences on their outcomes and life chances
* Important they take responsibility * Are empowered * Allowed to take reasonable and normal risks for age and ability * Learn from mistakes * Explore own identity
We need to use a person centred approach to allow the above, however they may make poor choices therefore we have a duty
