The level 5 leaders pride themselves of having a “deep personal humility with intense professional will.” The humbleness creates a sense of empowerment to others and allows them to take the credit of the successful outcome. When the outcome is poor, they blame themselves. In addition, level 5 leaders are able to act calm and collective when dealing with crisis.…
The leadership styles of the United States Presidents can make them effective or it can limit their effectiveness. The effectiveness of the President has direct effect on the American people. Presidents Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy were two leaders that had major influences in the mid-20th century. Both men played a key role in the United States involvement in Vietnam. The experiences, styles of leading, and characteristics of both President’s Dwight Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy intensified the level of involvement the United States had in the Vietnam experience. Even though the leadership styles may have differed, the two leaders refused to let communism spread (Moss, 2010).…
The importance in developing greatness and achieving success lies within the ability to carry out Level 5 leadership.…
Effective leadership is contingent on matching a leader’s style to a setting that fits (Northouse, 2007). According to Fiedler’s Contingency Theory, leadership styles are operationalized primarily on two ends of a spectrum, they are characterized as task motivated, or relationship motivated (Northouse, 2007). I believe in the adage that practice makes perfect. In this paper, I will look into an alternative way for leaders to lead when they find themselves situated in an unfavorable situation. In the case of leadership; an administrator, manager, or supervisor should use a reflective mindful praxis to improve their ability to make decisions that will achieve optimal outcomes from the organizations they lead in all situations, especially unfavorable ones.…
Different leadership styles, carried out by nurse leaders, have been implemented into the professional nursing practice with the intention of ensuring positive outcomes in the health care system. The most common leadership styles found in the study were affiliate and coaching, meaning most managers strive to create harmonious and friendly atmospheres to prevent rifts among staff and try to encourage their staff’s long term development (Kenmore, 2008). Other leadership styles include directive, visionary, pace setting, and participative. More experienced nurse managers have come to incorporate a majority of leadership styles into their practice. These two leadership styles are used in professional nursing practices everywhere regardless of its history of proving to create failure along with success.…
Leadership, to me, is defined by the vision of the leader. It is strategic and comes from within. I feel leadership and management are not one in the same. A leader looks to instill values and to promote a vision. Their values are directed towards the team and the goal is to lead by example. A manager does need to possess at least some of the crucial leadership qualities; however, management can be learned whereas I don 't feel leadership can be taught.…
Leadership is a process by which one person influences the thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors of others. Leaders set a direction for the rest of us; they help us see what lies ahead; they help us visualize what we might achieve; they encourage us and inspire us. Level 5 leadership refers to the highest level in a hierarchy of executive capabilities that we identified during our research. Leaders at the other four levels in the hierarchy can produce high degrees of success but not enough to elevate companies from mediocrity to sustained excellence. And while Level 5 leadership is not the only requirement for transforming a good company into a great one—other factors include getting the right people on the bus (and the wrong people off the bus) and creating a culture of discipline—our research shows it to be essential. Good-to-great transformations don’t happen without Level 5 leaders at the helm. They just don’t. (Traylor, 2001)…

The situational theory of leadership separates leadership behaviors into two general categories: task behavior, which is the communication and management of the tasks that the group must accomplish by the followers, and relationship behavior, which is the creation and maintenance of personal or emotional connections between the leader and followers. Low maturity workers are seen as needing a high level of task-oriented supervision and a low level of relationship-oriented supervision. High maturity workers are viewed as requiring a low level of both task and relationship supervision. Intermediate-maturity workers are believed to require medium task-orientation and high relationship - oriented supervision (Norris & Veccio, 1992).…
Leadership and motivation styles vary from person to person, that is why it is essential for managers to know and understand their leadership style and how their particular leadership affects their workplace. Leadership is influenced by many things that is why it is so important to know how and why your leadership style is what it is. There are many contributors that come into play when a leadership style is developed within a person. During the course of the last eight weeks I have been taking a hard look at my own leadership style and what I can do to improve myself to better serve both my co-workers and subordinates. Upon being tasked to disburse the LPI forms to my managers, co-workers and subordinates I become somewhat distressed by what they might have to say about me and how I lead. After pondering about what the results could or could not be I disbursed the forms and found out a tremendous amount about myself as a leader.…

The two companies that I will be comparing in this project are McDonalds and Wendys. Both of these companies are competitors in the same industry. I am using the information from their 2005 Financial Statements.…
This book is not based upon scientific research and study. Nor is it based upon someone who has spent his or her life in academia. I am just your average American Joe who has been blessed to see every aspect of American society first hand. This book is not intended to appease anyone. If it causes you to find hate in your heart or want to run out and change things. Then this is good, for you should feel something when reading its contents. The root cause of the Ghetto Effect is government, which dictates the very essence of it with industrial will. It is in effect the very essence of what ills America today. It’s the thing that no one wants to admit is causing harm through moral and ethical decay. The ghetto is no longer based on the color of ones skin, but economics and percentage of criminals in a specific area. Since the year 2000, when the Mayor of New York decided to get tough on crime, and all other major cities followed. His heart was in the…
