Despite the city’s objections, a local business owner appeared in front of the Lewisville City Council on Monday evening to fight for an expansion in parking spaces for his body shop.
The city of Lewisville had initially intended for the extra space adjacent to Alex Salguero’s business, Alex Paint and Body, to be used as a place to build two new buildings. With the Planning and Zoning Commission recommending denial of the zoning change by a vote of 4-2, Salguero would need all five voting members to vote in his favor to be granted his parking spaces. “I respect the enormous investment that he’s made, and respect what he has done to build a great, successful business. I think that we should grant him the parking spaces because he could bring other good businesses to the area as well.”
“I am supportive of the owner and his business I was even there for his grand opening,” said. “I was very impressed with his body shop, and I feel that as long as his business is used for customers and employees then I too will grant him the parking spaces he needs.”
One particular member of the audience had a comment to make about the meeting and how the overall decision turned out.
“This particular meeting was very interesting,” said Officer Fisher. “Usually these meetings are pretty boring, but this one was a good example of how a city will accommodate a business while being able to stay within the guidelines of the city ordinance.”
After the meeting, the city council referred Salguero to go speak with the higher staff to be one step closer to achieving his goal and he has agreed to do
