I RESEARCH PROJECT / STUDY TITLE:
Library Management System
II RESEARCH TOPIC AREA/S:
This project “Library Management System” is targeted towards the of a modern library. All the book details are provided in database. Proper management and audit of books is possible through an easy to use interface for the library staff. Throughout the project the focus has been on presenting information in an easy and intelligible manner. The project is targeted to be useful for both the library staff and also the borrowers. Modern techniques are used to minimize errors in the system. Proposed System: Proposed system is an automated Library Management System. Through our software user can: Add & Delete Members. Add & Delete Books. Search Books & Members. Update Record & Edit Information. Borrow and Return Books in quick time. Fine on late deposit of book.
III BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
Library Management System is designed to meet the needs of all information seekers. The objectives of this project is to provide complete database for the library which will help to minimize the duplication of data, get rid from paper filling system and it makes the processing of data very easy without waste of time.
The core goals of this project are to define the entities, attributes and their relationship to create a database that can be easily manage by admin. This aim to develop a system that can handle & manage the activities involved in a library in an efficient & reliable way. Less managing personnel & easy searching availability & user profile managing are major goals in this project. The importance of the Library Management System is to provide security for books and simplicity as well as efficiency to the management, it saves a lot of time, speeds up operations, increases use of library resources. when they search the catalogue they want to be able to see reviews of the items they are interested in before they borrow them.
IV STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
What is the importance of the Library Management System?
What are the main goals of the system?
How may the system help the library staff and the students?
What are the benefits of the Library Management System?
V SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY:
Library Management System will help the students or the borrowers and as well as the library staff to easily borrow and record the borrowed books in a simplest way. It also provides useful information about library use. The purpose of library system is to facilitate schools to establish quality and effective library catalog as a tool for accessing school learning and teaching resources. A good library system should enable the librarian staff to manage library resources in a more effective way.
1 Librarian Staff. It enables them to save more administrative effort and to surely secure and easily record the books borrowed.
2 Students. To easily search and find the books they needed and it saves a lot of time and effort.
3 Faculties. To be able to see reviews of the items they are interested in before they borrow them.
VI SCOPE AND DELIMITATION: (refers to the scope and inclusive frame/s of references as well as limitation/s of the study)
This project is aimed at developing an online Library Management System (LMS) for the college library. This is an Intranet based application that can be accessed throughout the campus. This system can be used to search for books/magazines, reserve books, find out who is having a particular book, put in requests to buy a new book etc. This is one integrated system that contains both the user component and the librarian component.
