Life in the Georgian Era
In the 19th century the way of life was very different than what it exists in the present world. Women were treated as property and kids were slaves to the work force. Men flourished in the social and economic statuses. People used horses as the main way to get places. Not everyone had the chance for an education and life was quite miserable if you weren’t wealthy. People would do just about everything to be able to get money, and kids worked as young as four. Art was one of the best ways to show wealth.

In almost all aspects it was split into two types of people like rich or poor, educated or uneducated, man or woman and many more. Most of the people during this time were considered poor, but the rich still controlled everything. The gap between the rich and poor was very wide because only a handful of people shared their wealth with the less fortunate. Industrialization made large profits for entrepreneurs, which made a very high contrast between them and farm workers. Only children with wealthy parents could go to school which was less than 20 percent of the child population. Children that had a poor family had to work to help the family. Youth would be hired as young as four years old to clean trash at factories or become a farm boy. Once the male children got older they would work at more dangerous jobs with lower wages like coal mining and chimney sweepers. If boys didn’t do mining or sweeping they would become a builder and work 64 hours a week. Girls around the age of 15 would look to prostitution as a way to get money and would do this until they were about 22. Others would become servants and work up to 80 hours in a week. Some children would work until they earned enough money to go to school and later college to get a higher paying job, Most of the time that was not the case as they owed the government taxes. This left people poor and depressed because they weren’t able to live a somewhat easier
