An entrepreneur is a person who initiates and manages a business on his own at a financial risk. Some fine examples are: Sir Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Dhirubhai Ambani and Jamsetji Tata. Another great entrepreneur is Jeff Bezos, the founder of the online megastore, Amazon.com.
Jeffrey P. Bezos was born on January 12, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the age of four, after his mother’s second marriage, Bezos moved to Houston, Texas. His grandfather had a ranch and he used to go stay with his grandfather and work on the ranch for months from the age of 4 to the age of 16. Working on the ranch was an amazing experience for him and he always enjoyed helping his grandfather with the chores. Bezos always showed a mechanical aptitude. As a toddler he would dismantle his crib using a screwdriver. He even rigged his room with an electric alarm to keep his siblings out. He also converted his parent’s garage into his laboratory for his science projects. After moving to Miami, Bezos fell in love with computers. He was a brilliant student and valedictorian of his class. Bezos went to Princeton University with an intention of studying physics; he graduated with a degree in computer science and electrical engineering.
Bezos started working on Wall Street at a company called Fitel, a start-up company that was building a network to conduct international trade. He stayed in the finance realm with Bankers Trust, becoming vice president. At D.E. Shaw, he was made senior vice president. He also met his wife, Mackenzie, a Princeton graduate, at Shaw. He was headed towards a bright and prosperous future in finance, when he came up with his billion-dollar idea that completely changed his life.

With this idea Jeff Bezos started his billion dollar online store, Amazon.com. He also pitched this idea to his boss during a walk
