He leaves out the history of his birth, and upbringing just saying that “‘I believe it would be senseless to write about his birth and infancy or even his childhood, since nothing was ever written down and there is no one still alive who claims to have knowledge of those things”. However, he also mentions that he was present at his death at seventy years old which obviously means Einhard knows when Charlemagne was born, but denies it. This along with the fact that Charlemagne has been a devout Christian since birth makes the reader wonder why Einhard neglected to record what happened in Charlemagne’s upbringing and if something happened that was particularly shameful or
