One of the personal attributes that may have led the main character to his death is his arrogance. It is based on a book about how a 16 year old boy gets stuck with a bengal tiger because of a shipwreck. At first he gets stuck with a hyena, zebra, orangutan and the bengal tiger. The hyena kills the zebra and orangutan and then the tiger eats the hyena. Leaving only Pi and the tiger left in the boat. Pi struggles with the tiger in which he faces challenges to take over the boat. During the time in the boat Pi and the tiger suffer from lack of food.
