Life Of Pi Rhetorical Analysis

The point i’m trying to prove is that pi’s character transformation is based on life, spirituality and relationships. There by the author uses pi’s faith to shift reader’s perception of religion. Pi’s life has different views on religion and every religion he studies has different ways of practicing it and different ways of understanding it.

First, when pi was a little boy he became fascinated with three different religions. THe three religions were islam,hinduism, and christianity. The story says” But he can’t be a hindu,a christian, and a muslim. It’s impossible. He must choose.” In the quote the religious leaders have brought to attention that pi is practicing all religions. His parents are shocked because the religious leaders were fighting over pt. Each of the religious leaders wanted pi to devote himself to their religion because of the way he practices the religion. Religious leaders do like to see the youth involved with their studies or helping out the community.

Second, when the boat pi was on sank he was trapped on a lifeboat with a tiger named Richard Parker. Pi knows that Richard Parker can attack him at any time of the day. While at sea pi says “ Vishnu preserve me, Allah protect me, Christ save me.” Here pi is asking the Gods from the different religions for help. He knows that
Many did not believe any of pi’s story. In the story he says “ Goodbye. God be with you my brother.” This comes to show that after he has been through his faith is stronger than ever. Even after Mr. Okamoto gave him a tough time with the interview he still wishes the best for him. Pi must have been an understanding fellow to be putting up with all the denial the reporters had. They would tell pi that his stories did not add up. Pi proved them wrong when they said bananas didn’t float.
