We set sail:
Today the Spanish armada set sail from Corunna with 130 ships with 7000 sailors and 21000 soldiers most of whom are priests, its purpose: to conquer England. Philip II king of Spain assembled the armada because Spain is the greatest power on earth but England also has a lot of power so Philip wants to take over England to gain more power. Also its a religious crusade, Philip wants, to kill Elizabeth so he can turn England into a catholic country as well as the fact English ships keep looting Spanish ships and stealing our gold. The English are also interfering with our wars; just now the English sent some troops to help the Dutch Protestants rebel against the Spanish catholic army. The leader of our fleet is Medina Sidonia which is ironic because he’s never actually fought on a ship before in his life he got forced into doing this job by the king because he has such a high social status and is an extremely well respected member of society but he seems to say he gets cold often and he is prone to sea sickness. To be honest I’m not scared at all are ships are massive we have 350 soldiers on every boat we’ve heard our enemy: the English navy have less than two fifths as many ships as we have and they’re a lot smaller than our ships but the most important advantage is the priests on board it means we have god’s blessing. I mean how could we not win this war?

In the distance
In the distance we can now see the southern English coast. Medina Sidonia told us that the leader of the British navy is admiral lord Howard who got the job through family as he is the queens cousin just like sidonia he’s has no real experience of leading a navy speaking off Sidonia he’s still complaining of sea sick but it must be genuine as he is such a well respected man some of the men suspect he doesn’t even want to be our leader and that he is a coward but i couldn’t imagine it seen as though he has such a high status in society. But the
