The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Overview
This week, Life Training Online is reviewing The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey, the fifth of fifty-two books in the 52 Personal Development Books in 52 Weeks series.

During its first publication in 1990, the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People became an instant classic for developing personal and professional effectiveness. Seventeen years later, this book still continues to have a huge following and influence throughout the world.

It was during my first year of college when I picked up my very own copy of this groundbreaking book. Being the impressionable freshman that I was, the title caught my eye and I wanted to know if I possesed any of the 7 habits of these so called “highly effective people”. As if I had been starved for this type of knowledge, I devoured the book in less than one day, becoming spellbound by these 7 habits. They began to become doctrine for me. For a week, that’s all I could talk about and naturally — as any loyal Covey neophyte would do — I went out, bought myself a FranklinCovey Planner, and went forth conquering. Or so I thought…

It wasn’t one month later that my newfound knowledge and brand new, $50 dollar planner was relegated to the back of my mind and bottom of my closet. The spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak; college life and all its distraction were just too much.

Now years later, with a more mature and seasoned mind (*cough *cough you this week, Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

book is calling me again. So with great anticipation, I look forward to presenting to

This is a book dedicated by Sean Covey to the youngsters, helping them to improve self-development. This book has surprisingly caught my attention because the 7 habits stated in this book are really small matters in our lives, but we often tend to ignore them. The author also gave different real life examples to demonstrate how we could apply these habits in our daily lives.…

Here I'll talk about the 7 habits and explain its meaning. The 7 Habits first published in 1989, is a business and self-help book written by Stephen R. Covey which is work sessions are based on the content from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which is considered one of the most impactful books ever written on personal effectiveness, leadership development and change. What differentiates The 7 Habits from other leadership offerings is its unique, proprietary content, which has global appeal, and is an inside-out approach to leadership development. The principles taught in the work session are universal, timeless, and cross-cultural and have been widely accepted, as such. The entire premise of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is that most people deal with the problems in their life in a scattershot fashion, and this scattershot fashion leads to disillusionment and disorder.…

If you are like most Christian professors, you have felt a burden for your colleagues and have wanted to reach out to them, to minister to them -- especially those closest to you. Perhaps you just haven't done so because you haven't been able to think of an appropriate way. One of the real keys of ministry is to address felt needs. Perhaps the universally perceived need of professors in academia is time management, effectiveness. What better way to minister to busy colleagues who are all under pressure to produce than to offer to help them become more effective. Dr. Joseph (Rae) Mellichamp, professor emeritus of the University of Alabama, created a set of discussion notes for the highly popular book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People that has proven useful in ministering to colleagues.…

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is a book that demonstrates how our actions represent our ideas. For example, if we aren’t happy we will make sure others aren’t neither, we sometimes forget our values or the reason we do things. Stephen Convey teaches us the 7 habits we should learn and use on our daily life. He builds each habit by chapter and how one habit supports the other. Throughout the book I thought that it was just meant to inform me about things he had learned. However, through his experiences and ideas I was able to reflect and understand his perspective since sometimes it was similar to mine. Although I didn’t agree all the time with what he said I would recommend others to read it so they can understand how their actions have meanings at times. He wants people to understand why the do things and to focus and stay on track to reach our goals, we need to have the will…

I agree to most of things she said in the article because most of them are either, backed up by an example or, presented from peoples who have the lot of knowledge and experience in human behavior related subjects. First habit that I am working to avoid is procrastination because it has the negative affect on my learning abilities as well as becoming a creative student. Working on last day with sweaty hand and heavy head does not bring me a good result most of times as I do not get enough time to be think as well as chance to collect peer feedback. Krakovsky suggestion of planning and making a suitable decision ahead of occasion will definitely help me to avoid…
