Biography of Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.

Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. who is better known as Lil Wayne is an American rapper. Lil Wayne was born on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Carter mother was a 19 year old chef when he was born. At age 2 Carter’s parents got divorced and his father permanently abandoned him and his mother. While he attended Lafayette Elementary School he was enrolled in the schools gifted program and once he reached secondary school at Eleanor McMain Secondary School he became involved in the drama club.

Critics said that it was advancement in his rapping style and lyric theme. “The Carter” sold 878,000 copies in the United Sates. After the release of “The Carter”, Lil Wayne was featured in Destiny’s Child’s single “Solider” with T.I., which reached Number 3 on the U.S. Hot 100 and the U.S. R&B charts. “The Carter II” brought even more fame to Wayne, selling 238,000 copies in the first week. It debuted number 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, it sold 2,000,000 copies worldwide. In 2005, Lil Wayne was named president of Cash Money and in the same year he founded Young Money Entertainment as an imprint of cash money. Although in 2007 he stepped down from the management of both labels and has handed management over to Cortez Bryant. Following his step down he released his new album “The Carter III”, it sold over a million copies in the first week and becoming 2008’s best-selling album. The album was delayed from its original date because the tracks were leaked and distributed on mixtapes. Lil Wayne embraced the leaks and turned the leaked albums to make a separate album called “The Leak”. In 2011 Lil Wayne released his most recent album “The Carter IV”, which debuted number 1 on the Billboard 200 with 964,000 in the first week. Prior to “The Carter IV”, Lil Wayne released a mixtape called “Sorry for the Wait”. It was named as an apology to his fans for the delay time
