Lindsey Vonn Research Paper
Lindsey Vonn Committed to Helping Others For those who enjoy winter sports, Lindsey Vonn is a household name. Lindsey Vonn is an Olympic Downhill skier, and a very successful one at that. With that success, Vonn has started to expand her presence into areas beyond sports in a variety of different ways, including writing a book, posing as an athletic model, and even becoming a major presence on social media, especially Instagram. Most of Vonn’s posts fall into the categories of her personal life, professional skiing career, and various career perks. While some of Vonn’s posts are merely updates, most of Vonn’s posts actually serve as more. In fact, despite Vonn’s rising fame and influence, most of Lindsey Vonn’s posts serve others, motivating …show more content…
She clearly states her name, and includes the fact that she is an Olympic skier. She mentions this somewhat in passing, downplaying how exceptional she truly is at the sport. Vonn also includes her snapchat username so fans can follow her there as well. In pattern with many of her posts, Vonn includes includes a quote: “If you fall, pick yourself back up”, which perfectly sums up the theme of Vonn’s posts. However, Vonn also includes information that presents her as more than just a determined athlete. She writes that she is the founder of the Lindsey Vonn Foundation. The foundation focuses on trying to influence women to make a difference and empower the next generation of young girls to reach their full potential. Yet, without looking up the foundation, users would likely not know what the foundation does, as that information is not seen anywhere in Vonn’s biography. Of all the information in Vonn’s biography, the most cryptic is probably a hyperlink to an unknown page. Upon further inspection, the link takes a user to website where they can buy Vonn’s book, titled “Strong is the New Beautiful.” This book link gives viewers an entirely new idea about what Vonn stands for. Her book centers on the idea that women should be comfortable in their bodies and focus on becoming strong women, both physically and mentally, rather than just trying to lose weight or fit society’s mold. These two …show more content…
In addition to posts about the Lindsey Vonn Foundation and her book, Vonn’s portfolio features posts about late night talk show interviews, sponsorship gigs, and various instances of athletic modeling. One post shows Vonn in a therapy tub being attended to by another woman and a cameraman filming intently. The post is captioned “Excited to start filming for my docuseries with @eurosport. Taking them behind the scenes in my arm rehab...hot water therapy in tub,” with a flexed arm emoji and the hashtag “#chasinghistory.” Once again, Vonn’s intended purpose was probably just to announce the exciting news of Lindsey Vonn’s new docuseries. However, Vonn’s followers receive so much more than just an update. This “behind the scenes” look demonstrates to Vonn’s followers that even professional athletes have to endure challenges that slow them

In a world consumed with desire, Carl Richards tries to offer a solution to an individual’s need to be better than the person standing beside him or her with his article, “Learning to Shun the Instagram Life.” Richards discusses how he sees others living their life, which he refers to as the “Instagram life”. He describes this life as being “focused on making it look like we have a better life than everyone else.” He even further demonstrates that as we look at ourselves and appear happy, we also see others and feel jealousy towards those people. Envy is considered as one of the seven deadly sins. Everyone has some jealousy in their veins, the question is do we build our lives around that jealously? Richards does a decent job trying to convince the reader that he or she should not live the Instagram life, but focus on building a genuine life of happiness,…

Since 2006 I've watched a number of Sandra Lee's "Semi-Homemade Cooking" episodes on The food Network; what captivated me from the beginning was both Sandra Lee's impeccable personal style and the elegance of her kitchen, which she changes for each episode. Sandra Lee is remarkably easy on the eyes - a modern-day throwback to the style, grace and beauty of the 1950's. That crispness is what she represents. Sandra Lee's originality is beyond compare and while she gives credit to her beloved paternal grandmother for instilling in her the love of baking and decorating, Sandra Lee's inventiveness is entirely her own. Many have grown up in challenging circumstances but not everyone can tastefully design a small apartment with inexpensive fabrics.…
