Brought together under unfortunate circumstances, a group of individuals with longing for success soon create Infinity crop, the greatest advertising company in the world. They take advantage of the rash mined public or rather, brainwashing them (products will fix all your problems – get your husband back make you kids less bratty, earn more etc.) Into emptying their wallets and they are shameless in this way.
What was the audience encouraged to work out? There were opportunities for tension at almost every corner. The characters, all of different ethnicity, personality and values were set to clash from the beginning, as their only common was money and success. What was the focus of the situation explored?
The focus of the situation explored - to see whether or not ones opinion could change the other opinions. As a result of being more honest, the character (mentioned above) turned out to have done better in life by the time met again. On the contrary, being completely honest in the demanding corporate would probably interfere with the sales and income of that business.
Past, Present, future & setting: List the place & time explored. The scene was set in the present (location not specified). This was easy to understand as the actors wore shirts with popular logos on the e.g. Nike, Coca-Cola,
Adidas.
What dramatic forms were used to construct the play? Satire was the dramatic form used to construct the scene. Meaning the performance was comedic and light. Also, evident chorus work.
How were the characters and story expressed, including use of verbal language, vocal sounds, music, body language and movement? The actors used distinct accents as well as clear diction in their voices to illustrate a variety of cultural backgrounds. This was effective in the way that it showed how deceptive corporate companies are widely spread all over the world. Movement/body language through out the scene was fast yet precise and direct, which again reflects the business world.
How was the space and used to visually communicate relationships between characters, and between characters and their environment? Much of the space was utilised within the scene as the actors worked hard to perform specially choreographed movements which all contained relevancy to either their overall message or particular dialogue.
When was there a contrast of pace and tempo between particular scenes? The disparity of tempo took place when the performance began at an overly cheery/snappy pace then rose to a cantoris mood when the group became uncooperative and closed minded to contradictory opinions.
What symbolic meaning was created using objects or settings? Key symbolism within the performance including their branded t-shirts and catch phrases.
What was the overall dramatic meaning created? Overall dramatic meaning of the piece: posing the question of ‘Are corporate businesses doing the right thing?’ as well as pointing out public naivety when it comes to advertisements.
How was the actor/audience relationship manipulated to achieve a particular effect? Were the audience engaged? I felt thoroughly engaged through the duration of the performance. This was because the actors managed to convincingly portray clever but at times delusional business people.
