Literary Autobiography Analysis
Literary Autobiography As a young adult, I struggled to believe that reading could be enjoyable. My reading levels were behind my classmates and I needed extra help, I was ashamed and loathed reading. My intense desire to have the passion to pick up a book and comprehend its story was fueled by my mom. My mom could not fall asleep without a book in her hands, and most mornings I would hear her complaining about how tired she was from her late night reading. I strove to be a “good” reader, to be like my mom. Overtime, I was still troubled by my reading, lost in books that had no real connection to my life. While I once was conflicted with my reading abilities I connected to young adult literature, had superior influences, and look forward …show more content…
I could find the objective in reading because I had other thing to worry about. My parents own a drug and alcohol recovery program and I saw children being put into foster care; watching my father fight his own addiction as well. School was not a priority of mine, but I came across a book titled Money Hungry in the sixth grade. It was a book that told a story about a young girl with a father who stumbled with addiction, just like mine. This book started a deep devotion for literature in my life. I read everywhere and all the time. I grew through the book and began to value the bond between people and story. My eagerness to read increased when I sat in just one class with my teacher MJ. He was different from my previous teachers, he found beauty in reading and found a way to feel the storyline. Before class reading was just to make sure I did not fail the test, but then he made us look deeper into our reading. There was not a student who did not appreciate his knowledge. From Lord of the Flies, Life of Pi, Fahrenheit 451, and Hamlet; all were amusing because of him. Though we did do much reading activities we discussed how we individually connected with each book. He brought emotions out of required

Wow, this quote from, Ethno Autobiography, written by Jürgen Werner Kremer and R Jackson-Paton really stood out to me in such an enlightening way. I related to this statement because, I feel, that many people whom are, WEIRD, do tend to look upon other peers this way. These types of people don’t take the time to understand someone, get to know them on a personal level – what they have been through, where they lived, defining moments that they have had and finding out their long term and short term endeavors. For instance, one thing that I can relate this to is college applications. Therefore, due to the overpopulated college system we have in place there is no time to holistically get to know a single student, so that’s why doing an analytical…

Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

Although there is much I can’t recall from my early days of reading, there are some momentous flashbacks. When I was beginning elementary school my parents were very eager to introduce me to doing a great deal of reading, they wanted me to enjoy reading for a while and they succeeded. We lived within walking distance of the public library which allowed us to frequently visit the library to read and check out books. I always remembered the vast shelves of books that seemed like they never had an end. In addition to reading at the library we checked books out to bring home to read, this allowed me to read as much as I wanted to. Correspondent to the amount of reading I did, the more I enjoyed it and improved at reading.…

I used to love reading. In kinder and first, my nose was stuck in a Magic Tree House book. Third, fourth, and fifth grade I basically lived at Hogwarts (in my rightfully sorted house, of course, I am a proud Hufflepuff). And in middle school, I discovered THE tween series of my generation, Maximum Ride. Reading was exciting, and even though I had done it for years every time I picked up a book it felt so novel. I was your ordinary bookworm until seventh grade when the joint power of Ms. Green’s teaching and James Patterson’s writing broke my will to read.…

Finding one book that intrigued Stephanie enough was all it took to make her an everyday reader. The same goes to me. When in my earlier years I hated reading. There were only two things I hated to do. Those two things were reading, and doing what someone told me to do. Hating a combination of the both you could see how the disposition with reading would subsist. It wasn’t until the summer going into middle school that I changed my ideals on the subject.…

I am not a professional reader, nor am I a professional writer. As a matter of fact, I don’t like writing at all, but then writing is a part of life. I was only 6 years old when I started to take an interest in reading and also started to learn how to read. My grandmother was a greater reader. She would read to me all the time and encourage me to read anything I could get my hands on. I would always see her with a book during her spare time.…

The first books I ever started reading were Winnie the Pooh and Dr Suess books. When I was young my parents were really good about getting me started with reading different books and for a long time I loved reading, as long as it was books I got to choose and enjoyed reading myself. Once I got further along in school and they started mandating what books we had to read I got to the point where I didn’t find reading enjoyable any longer. I didn’t like most of the books my teachers were picking for us to read so I felt like I had to force myself to read them and it caused me to even stop reading books outside of school…

The newness of reading had worn off by junior high. My leisure reading had decreased significantly due to sports and increase in textbook reading assignments made by our teachers. The textbook reading assignments changed how I felt about reading. When in elementary school, reading was learning, but what we were reading were nothing more than stories made up by a publishing company. There was usually a lesson learned at the end of the story. Textbooks didn’t have that same story like nature. They were full of facts and what seemed like complex analogies and theories. Reading was not fun anymore.…

Although I never felt compelled to read to anyone or to strive in reading, I did take interest in fictional stories, nursery rhymes and fairy tales. There was something about these genres that enchanted me and took me to a place that was different to this harsh world. I would find myself imagining for hours what it was like being a princess and being part of a magical world. I would play these mystical imaginative games and that would become the thing that occupied me. Being part of this fantasy world would be my escape from my “only child” life.…

Firstly, when I was in primary school, the act of reading helped me to discover a fascinated world. I had a teacher who believed that reading was a waste of time. In the same way, she always told us that math is more important than literature. Therefore, I did not feel interested in reading anything for almost one month. Some time later, my teacher was changed and we were intrigated about the new one. Before she told us her name, she gave us a book. Inmediately, Ms. Amy started reading the literary work called "Mi Planta de Naranja Lima". I could not avoid crying with the first two chapters. Since that moment, I realized reading was not a duty or something bad; otherwise, it was part of my life every afternoon where I learned to be…
