In the Honest Trailer critique of Frozen, the critic points out the empowerment of the female characters. This is an example of empowerment criticism. The critic emphasizes how female roles do not rely on the male protagonists to save them from being alone. In most fairy tales women are hardly represented in a positive way. They usually don’t get their happily ever after until they meet a man and fall in love but in Frozen, the two sisters Anna and Elsa rely on each other to save Arendelle from being cursed with eternal winter in pursuit of their very own happily ever after in rekindling their strained relationship. This aspect of empowerment is crucial because it is important to the development of young people’s minds.
