Beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. Beauty can be one of the most complex aspects of life. It creates conflict in the society as well as diversity. Beauty is not everything. There is no such thing as perfect beauty. For example, make-up is an eliminator of natural beauty. It alters natural beauty by covering up the little imperfections that we have that makes us beautiful. “In all natural things, living and nonliving, and at every level within each thing, from grassy plain to electron, proton, and neutron, beauty saturates nature.”(Source F) Natural beauty comes in all colors, shapes and sizes. It is not categorized by one specific person who thinks they know what beauty is. “There is no excellent beauty, that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.”(Source C) …show more content…
Beauty effects everyone in the society.
Adults as well as teens. “Still, beauty is driving me nuts, and although I’m a successful red-blooded American male, divorced and available, it is beauty alone that is keeping me single and lonely.”(Source D) In many scenarios, people in our lives become apparently beautiful when we grow to love them. Do you love your partner because she/he is beautiful or is she/he beautiful because you love them? Love and beauty are attached subjects and you cannot mention one without mentioning the other. Our society is biased. It teaches us to love the beautiful people more than the so-called ugly
people. Teens are just more resistant so beauty does not affect them as much as it affects adults. “The bad news: Corporate media monopolies assault teens with a constant barrage of messages that reinforce gender stereotypes, promote unattainable images of beauty, and convince them that shopping is fundamental to human expression.”(Source E) In this world, advertisement has a great impact in teenage life. This is due to the fact that thousands of advertisements contain memos about physical attractiveness and beauty, examples of which include commercials for clothes, cosmetics, weight reduction, and physical fitness. These are all factors which cause teens to feel insecure about themselves. “It may be true that being on the brink of adulthood is a time of uncertainty for many young people, but my hunch is that teen magazines actually work hard to push teens to feel less confident, more than they play off already existing insecurities.”(Source E) Some believe in natural beauty but most do not. In this society, beauty is never even. It is categorized on a scale by people’s emotions in different surroundings. Studies show if an attractive woman is placed by other attractive women, that attractive women will think less of herself. Her confident will decrease and her insecurities will increase. It is the opposite effect when an attractive woman is placed by so-called ugly women. She becomes very confident and has little to none insecurities. “Since these studies, the researchers have found that the contrast effect influences not only our evaluations of strangers but also our views of our own mates.”(Source D)
