The 24 hour war is a documentary that takes about an hour and a half to watch and describes in detail how Ferrari and Ford battled it out in the 60’s to win the Le Mans 24 hour race and how the two companies got involved in the first place. The documentary describes in detail how the rivalry started between the two companies and how in the 1960’s the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race was probably the biggest race in the world and is one of the greatest rivalries in the history of motorsport.
The documentary starts out with how the two companies started and how the founders Enzo Ferrari and Henry Ford each started their companies both of which involved some sort of racing. Ferrari would officially start on in 1939 …show more content…
After this disappoint Henry Ford brought in Carroll Shelby as he had experience at winning the Le Mans as both a constructor and a driver. It was for this reason that Henry Ford II hired Carroll Shelby and how he and his team of about 8 people were able to achieve what he did. Shelby took over the racing program in 1964 where he took the problems that where wrong with the car and fixed and fixed them creating the Ford GT40 MK II. The ford gt40 mark II came 1st, 2nd and 3rd that year where all 3 cars came across the line at the same point which robbed Ken Miles out of a historic triple as he had already won the Daytona 24 hour race and the Sebring 12 hour race meaning had he won the Le mans he would have been the only man in to do so but due to the rules Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon won due to them starting further back whilst having completed the same amount of laps. Unfortunately Ken Miles never got a second go as he died the next year testing the Mark
