Litterbugs
Litterbugs are people who love to litter around. Litterbugs are also who do not take the responsibility or to play their role in the society to take care of the environment. Why are they litterbugs? I'm not sure why it is that so many have a hard time understand the concept behind trash cans. It's as if they think that if they throw stuff down everywhere that it will magically walk over to the trashcan and hop right in. Litterbugs are the person who has lack of awareness, not bothered about the environment and too lazy just to walk a few steps to the trash can. What are the effects of litterbugs? One of the major effect is it will destroy the image of our beautiful country which eventually affects the tourism of our country. As a result, Malaysians economy will thrive on tourism and it will be brought to its knees. Furthermore, the health of the citizens will be affected which may cause chronic diseases like asthma, breathing problem, and eye problem. Lastly, litterbugs are also polluting the environment and cause land pollution, air pollution, and water pollution to occur. Next, how to overcome the problem of litterbugs? One of the ways is by make the law strict. Government should fine the person who litters around especially at public places, throwing rubbish into the river and spitting at public places. Government should also provide more recycle bins at public places like park, temple, train station and banks. Moreover parent’s influence towards their child also plays a vital role to overcome this issue. For instance they should instil good values to their child as the saying goes in Malay, “melentur buluh biarlah dari rebungnya”, which means if you want to teach basic moral values for your child, it must be done at the early age or else it will be nearly impossible. As a conclusion, there are just too many bad things happening in the world. But, I believe if we held our hands and work together it would make a great difference. We can change the

The human littering causes major impacts that are both positive and negative; it is a positive to the environment as it has created weeds such as the pennywort and Wandering Jew which formed habitats for native and migratory animals, as well as protecting them from predation as their weeds are in abundance making it hard for predators to find their prey. Although, human litter can cause weeds that impact the environment negatively such as the Morning Glory and Balloon Vines. These are parasitic weeds as they restrict native plants from sunlight and nutrients to survive and provide food the animals in the ecosystems . Additionally, the litter from humans, urban runoff and flooding; transports foreign chemicals from batteries, electronic products, cleaning products and eroded products. This will change its acidity, turbidity levels and temperature which causes an unnatural environment for the native animals and plants. (refer to figure 2.1). Furthermore, this can also contribute to the formation of patches of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) as high content of phosphates are emitted from stormwater drainage systems and human domestic pet faeces that they do not clean up. The blue-green algae will affect the aquatic ecosystems as it will use large amounts of carbon dioxide, and increase turbidity…

    Stink Bugs

In the article “Asian stink bugs are here” it describes introduced specie called the stink bug that has invaded Maryland. The brown stink bug is an invasive insect species from Asia, and was first reported in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1998. They are an insect that comes out in the autumn, but during the winter season they will try to slip under siding or shutters, or go through vents and windows to find shelter. After hiding out in our houses for the winter, they get active again as the weather warms up and begin looking for a way to get outside to feed and mate. Each female will lay enough eggs to make another 400 stink bugs. Stink bugs can be pest to farmers or gardeners because they insert their sucking mouth parts into tender fruit, causing ugly scarring called “cat facing”. They are can also be a pest because if you aggravate or kill them they will produce a long-lasting foul smell, hence their stink bug name. Their stink is produced by scent glands that go into action when the bug is squashed or merely annoyed. Their population is rapidly growing in the United States mainly due to the fact that there aren’t any predators here that will eat them. A few species of birds in the states will go after these stink bugs, but their natural predators are left back in Asia. So, entomologists have begun to study some Asian parasitic wasps that might make good candidates for biological controls for the stink bugs in the states. This article can relate to our course because it is describing an introduced specie. I can connect to this article because I hate these bugs, mainly because they are everywhere and once I get rid of one I find another in a matter of seconds. I find the fact that entomologists are trying to bring these wasps to counter out these stink bugs very interesting and could be a good thing, but it may also be a bad thing if these wasps become the next pest.…

This essay seems like it could have been written for two different audiences: One being those individuals who might be fascinated with the idea of Dumpster diving, or those who already partake in the activity, and the other might be those individuals who are wasteful. The main purpose of this essay is to share the author’s own personal experiences of being homeless, to talk of his knowledge of Dumpster diving, and to also explain and give advice on how a person might go about living out of the Dumpsters. An additional purpose of the essay might be to show how wasteful people truly are. Eighner writes of one particular group, which he finds to be quite excessive, “Students throw out many good things, including food” (Eighner 164). You can respect Lars Eighner as the author while you read this essay because you know that this is how he lived his life for years, and therefore, you can trust that he knows what he is talking about.…

Cigars are one of the main problems many smokers do not have ashtrays in their cars so they let the ash go out the window and then when they are done they just throw the cigar out. By doing this the cigar is still lit and could cause fires to happen. Schools are also another area where littering is a problem, many students believe that they can just leave their trash because janitors will pick it up for them but most of the time the trash attracts unwanted guests such as birds and rats, and by leaving their trash them that it is fine to litter and someone will pick it up for them always. So once again many people do not treat littering as a crime and millions of people do it and by littering could hurt animals that live near the place being littered and could start…

This is probably the reason why the earth is being polluted with trash. Studies show that people litter because they do not feel responsible for public areas and that people usually litter outside of their neighborhoods where the trash becomes someone else’s problem. One example on how litter can affect the environment is that organic litter can cause water pollution and lead to algal blooms, and cigarettes could also start fires if they are not put out and then discarded in the environment. In Al Gore's speech he talks about how in 7 years the North Polar ice cap might “fall off a cliff.” This might happen in 7 years because of the Northern Hemisphere tilting away from the sun. This happened because of all the pollution and global warming we caused and because of our trash. So, people may argue and say one piece of trash on the ground doesn't really matter and that it’s okay to throw little pieces of trash on the floor but it’s not. Every little piece adds up and still causes damage on the environment. So think next time you're about to throw your candy wrapper in a nearby bush. Think about the consequences of that action and how it will affect the…

If you are a litterer you can get fined anywhere from $20 to $30,000 dollars. But more importantly littering pollutes the water making it unsafe to drink and even swim in. This is true for not only bodies of water but for groundwater as well. Littering and places with a heavy amount of littering threatens the wellbeing of people and animals. It attracts diseases, bacteria, and veromon. But above all litter attracts more litter. People are most likely going to throw trash on the ground if they see other pieces of trash. Littering can also be a fire hazard. All you would need is a pile of trash and someone to come along and throw a cigarette down on the ground. And if cigarettes weren't bad enough they are the number one item littered bring it to 50% of all litter on earth. For most smokers they don't really think about what they are doing. They don't know that cigarettes take up to 10 years to disintegrate. The trash we carelessly walk by and maybe even the trash we have littered ourselves will affect you. When it comes to littering what goes on the ground comes back…
