The first production element that was used successfully within “Living in Limbo: Stateless Identities” was the use of costumes. There were not many props used throughout the production, which made the audience really focus on the dancers’ and their movements. Many of the props used within the performance were for practical purposes, such as the use of folding chairs. The chairs were used for two different purposes: for the dancers to sit on, while not performing and to assist the dancers throughout different scenes. Another prop that was used during the performance were four grids that were used during “Barriers”, which were used to show how disoriented the refuge becomes after being forced to leave their home. The third prop that was used during the production was a wooden platform, which was used during “Perseverance and Hope”. This prop was used to show refuges perseverance of hope to become safe and to have power, which is shown through the dancers all trying to get up on the platform. “Living in Limbo: Stateless Identities” successfully used props that helped the audience understand what was happening, which I believe made the dance performance even more
