After reading Reyhan Harmanci’s essay “Giving up my small-town fantasy” that was published in 3rd September 2014 in NY times, opinions section, I do agree her when she told us about her experience in living in two different places (rural and urban). and when she pointed out how big cities differ from small towns.. However, I disagree in others thoughts.…
There are many distinct characteristics that allow us to easily differentiate between rural and urban areas. Urban areas have a high (concentrated) density because it contains high amounts of people in small areas, and vice versa for rural areas. With this information, it can easily be inferred that urban areas create greater noise, but with greater job opportunities as well as using more resources. Therefore the prices rise and there is a greater chance that supply can’t compensate for demand, which then leads to things such as poverty. Urban areas also contain incredibly large amounts of human-created structures and there are a lot of different means of transportation to get around. These things help to develop problems such as health hazards, one example being smog which is a big problem in high-dense cities. With all the people, there are greater birth rates, death rates, and crime rates. Not everything is bad though, such as commercial areas being close to residential areas and easy access to needs such as healthcare and food. Driving or owning a car is not mandatory if everything around you is close, which is the case for some people. For myself, I can say that I am almost in this situation, because my parents don’t drive to work, but we need cars for other activities. On the other hand, rural areas are basically the exact opposite of urban areas and also have their ups and downs.…
When approaching the countryside you are immersed in the rolling hills of green, the smell of fresh cut grass invades your senses going hand in hand with the birds singing their sweet songs on the rolling air. There are more trees then you can count and it is very comforting scene all together. If you are city bound the city you are faced with tightly packed buildings, cram-packed streets filled with angry drivers forever late for this or that. Smog and a ripe stench that can’t seem to be placed take a permanent seat in your nostrils, walking is nearly impossible to do without running into someone. Definitely not the life for someone who treasures personal space and pleasantries that seem to be swept to the way side with city living. There are less pollution, fewer cars, and fewer factories in the countryside. This shows that the environment is better and more natural in the country. As opposed to a city filled with loud noises and factories which contribute to noise and environmental pollution.…

In a small town, there are some values that are more important and more difficult to achieve. Such values include the enjoyment of nature, the warmth and comfort of humanity, and the inner strength of enlightenment. Becky Tijuana says that "in small town you can find your spirituality." In crowded and busy cities, nature is almost completely neglected and eliminated. Technology, industries, and tall buildings eliminate the beauty of nature to introduce the advancements of humanity. Also stress is lower in a small town it 's not as noisy, or congested, it 's just peaceful.…
It is a well-known fact that the world is becoming increasingly urbanized. In almost every country in the world the trend has been for more and more people to move from small towns to larger cities. Although there are certain aspects of living in small town that I would appreciate such as clean air and less noise, however the urbanizing trend pretty much reflects my own preference for living in a big city rather than in a small town, because in my opinion the place one lives in plays more important role in one’s life in terms of wider range of opportunities. I think the education and career opportunities are the most prominent among them.…
I spent my whole childhood in a little village and the first time I traveled to the city, I heard some city people saying that given chance, they would prefer to live in the countryside far away from the noisy and dirty city. I could not help wondering why the nature and the open space were more attractive than the modernization and grand buildings. As far as I am concerned, country…
Living is the country is the best place to have a home. The first reason county living is better is the lower crime rate. In the country, gangs do not walk by family houses and children are not picked off of their front lawns while they are playing. Additionally, interlopers do not break into houses in the middle of the night, letting people be at ease while they are at home. The second reason why country living is better is the lower pollution levels. With fewer people come fewer cars and factories belching carbon monoxide into the air. This results in the air being fresh and clean rather than noxious and dirty. In the country, most people do not throw trash all over the ground. The lands are beautiful and clean and all trash is in the garbage can, unlike the city. Finally, the country is a better place to live due to the natural aura. The country atmosphere is great for raising kids and providing a healthy lifestyle. The children are able to run freely in the woods and plains. The nature all around provides chances to learn about plants and animals, such as coyotes, ferns, oak trees, and snakes. Parents can take their kids for walks and talk about the natural environment all around them. Another example of the wonderful atmosphere is the peaceful solitude. The luxury of going for a quiet, relaxing walk is always an option. In conclusion, the country is a safe place to raise a family, experience nature and have a healthy…

Firstly, towns are the places which facilitate a peaceful and traditional social life. The lower population of towns brought closure, sympathy and unity among the suburbs. In towns, nearly all citizens know each other and have social relations, so the towns are very lovely and friendly places to live. Mostly, all people in a town have one culture and traditions, so it helps one to know about their own cultures and traditions. Furthermore; plenteous water sources, wide lands, and green farms and gardens contribute to rich agricultural and animal products; therefore, one can get fresh and cheap animal and agricultural products easily. In addition to growing and reaping different kinds of vegetables and fruits, having domestic animals is one of the countable benefits of towns. The most important thing is that towns are very quiet and peaceful. There is not as much crowd as in cities and the crime rate in towns is lower than the cities.…
city, but as it is well-known that for search of better living opportunities, people use to migrate from rural to urban areas. Rural areas are lagging behind in all good opportunities of life. It is an alarming situation for India. Father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi says, “India inhabits in villages”. But after seven decades of our independence, we fail to develop our villages and make them self-sufficient and self-reliance. Situation is going grim day by day in rural areas because of emigration from villages, destruction of cottage and small-scale industries and backwardness of agriculture sector. On the other hand, the situation of urban centre is over-populated and over-burdened on civic amenities. People immigrated in urban centers fail to…
